I've inherited some antique guns (pistols, revolvers and a rifle). I'm looking for recommendations for getting them appraised. Thanks.

Hi! I hope this is the correct Reddit to ask this! Me and my gf have been thinking about moving to the west coast and right now Seattle is our top pick by far. We plan to visit for about 10 days in February and if all goes well we’d be moving in April/May. We have visited on the west coast before (Cali - Hawaii) but I know Washington is different from those places. Anyways we love being by the water and nature (we love hikes, walks, greenery etc). Right now we have about 20K in savings right now and if we were to move thankfully both of our companies have locations out there so we would just get transfers so we definitely have job security no matter what. What’s the scene like out there? We are coming from Texas (not conservatives) and feel like it may be a huge world shift for us in so many different ways. Is this a place you all enjoy living? Are there more pros than cons you’d say? What’s some of the best places to visit or things to do on a visit? We’d be hoping to find a 1bd 1bath up to 2500. We could go more but don’t really want to lol Willing to share more details on our situation if it helps the conversation on if a move is really plausible for us.
For 18 years, through my work with Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates, I have fought to support and protect Washington’s youth and help families thrive. This election, three ballot initiatives — I-001, I-638, and I-645 — threaten to enact harmful policies affecting schools, students, families, health care, and taxes. All three are promoted by MAGA millionaire Brian Heywood and Let’s Go Washington, the group that two years ago pushed to slash funding from education, bankrupt our long-term care benefit program, and gut funding to address climate change are trying to roll us backward again. These ballot measures are so wrong for Washington that the Seattle Times editorial board has come out against all three, slamming them as “flawed,” “poorly written,” and “fear-mongering.” Initiative 645 takes away $13 billion in funding for education and childcare, eliminates free school meals for many K-12 students, and increases costs for healthcare and taxes on working families and small businesses by repealing Washington’s Millionaires Tax. All to give another unneeded tax cut to a handful of Washington’s wealthiest. Opposition to I-645 is strong, with organizations including the Children’s Alliance, League of Women Voters, Food Lifeline, Washington State Labor Council, and more joining small businesses, educators, and dozens of other advocates for working families, students, and retirees. Initiative 001 purports to promote parents’ rights but is so backwards and poorly written, it actually undermines them. Our state Attorney General Nick Brown says the measure removes parents’ rights to immediate notification if their child has been the victim of a crime at school – an outrageous impact. Not only that, but I-001 would force schools to hand over confidential counseling or other medical records to parents — even those who have been charged with abusing their own child— leaving kids at greater risk and pushing trusted adults out of reach. Forcing teachers and school counselors to “out” LGBTQ+ students to unsupportive families will worsen Washington’s youth mental health crisis. As a parent, I understand deeply the vital role that we play in the lives of our children. I also know the heartbreaking fact that not every student has a supportive home environment, as evidenced by more than 100,000 reports of child abuse and neglect in Washington during 2024 alone. Getting care should never depend on having a safe home. And a student in need shouldn’t have to fear retaliation simply for seeking help. I-001 is opposed by the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, WA State Nurses Association, The League of Women Voters of Washington, and the Washington State PTA. We must reject Initiative 638, the most extreme MAGA initiative of its kind in the U.S. It sounds too outrageous to believe, but this disgusting measure would impose invasive government-mandated sex inspections on all K-12 girls who want to participate in sports. If I-638 passes, doctors would be required to verify a girl’s sex based on “reproductive anatomy,” or conduct expensive hormone or genetic tests as part of a sports physical, according to Sec. 3(2). And this requirement only applies to girls, not boys. I-638 in no way keeps sports safe for girls. Sports physicals don’t – and shouldn’t – require anyone to look at girls’ genitals. There’s no legitimate reason for it. Rather than keep girls safe as MAGA millionaire Brian Heywood maintains in his fearmongering, I-638 puts young girls at greater risk of harm. We’ve seen this time and time again across the country, where MAGA politicians claim to be protecting women and girls but are actually trying to distract us by playing politics with vulnerable students, especially trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and queer kids. The WA State Nurses Association, more than 100 physicians and other health care providers, and more than 400 community groups and elected leaders strongly oppose I-638. These initiatives do nothing to solve the real issues Washington families are facing. We can protect kids and programs that benefit working families by simply voting No on these harmful initiatives. Hi everyone, I’m getting married in Leavenworth next year 10/9/27, and I’m wondering if any restaurants there are able to accommodate 20ish people for a small dinner after the ceremony. The venue offers dinner and whatnot but it is very expensive and we are trying to keep costs as low as possible especially considering our small headcount and the fact that we are lowkey, no DJ or dancing or anything like that lol just a small dinner with our immediate families! Also worried about it being in the middle of Oktoberfest but my fiance is pretty set on that.
Tonight is the big one, Mayor Hurst is presenting the preliminary budget and Monisha Harrell will be presenting on the proposed property tax levy. There will also be some discussion of extending the paid parking ordinance another 6 months, public comment just in general. Come hear where your tax dollars go. City Council Chambers on 44th at 6PM. This one will likely last at least until 9, probably later. Watch the livestream or the archive too. This is important. There will be opportunities for the public to comment on the budget coming up soon.

Hi everyone! Useful local updates are easy to miss when they're spread across city pages, transportation alerts, neighborhood notices, and event calendars. I wanted to see whether bringing a small selection together in one place would actually be helpful. So I put together Issue #0 of Kirkland Beat . It covers a few practical updates and events for October 12–18, including the Saturday recycling collection, Juanita road closures, and some local activities. This is an early test, and it isn't monetized. I'd appreciate honest feedback: Was anything here useful? What feels unnecessary? What would you want included in a weekly Kirkland roundup?
I'm a resident of Seattle though I admittedly don't do a whole lot of social activities here aside from ice skating and seeing bands. My friend is really into art, animals (especially goats) and a HUGE fan of horror. Any ideas on fun hang out plans? Budget ideally under a few hundred dollars, since I want to take them thrifting too. Thank you for any sweet ideas! Our current plan is dinner and thrifting, and we plan to fill 2 days.
I’m visiting Seattle tomorrow and have never been. I’ll have most of the day tomorrow beginning around 1pm for myself. Im here for work so I’ll have free mornings before 12pm on Wednesday and Thursday as well. what should I do?? I would love to take advantage of the nature/fall vibe if that’s easily accessible. I’m staying near belltown/downtown. I would love any recommendations on how to spend my day, where to eat, how to get around. I want to make the most of my short time here!
Their was store on 1st ave that used to sell passport photos and they would also make fake id. I got my fake ID there. I used to go to a store in the mt Baker area named RIPS. I would buy beer from there. This was 30 years ago. Did you have a fake ID? What did you use it for?
