Specifically the rheumatology department at UW, but I’m curious about other specialties, as well. They haven’t even processed my referral yet, and they’ve had it for a month. But I’ve heard they’re top-tier, but is that just for cancer care with Fred Hutch? Or are all their specialty departments worth the wait?

In Washington, federal funding for victim services dropped 76 percent between 2018 and 2024. Gender Equality Movement (GEM) Seattle organized this October 8 rally in response. ~ Three quarters of the federal money for survivor services is gone, and the people filling that gap are volunteers handing out leaflets downtown.

Not sure exactly what their "mission" involves, but would sure be useful if they could! It's very likely some of the attendees are armed so that possibility might negate a Care Bears response... In the meantime, I guess all we can wish for is that the music blows out the eardrums of all the asshole attendees...

The situation is that my dad has stage 4 prostate cancer (talk to your loved ones about getting yours checked!) and needs a decent amount of help. My mom does a good job at helping him but I know it would take a lot of work off of her if I was able to take care of him more often. I live and work here in seattle and they live a few hours away so it would be nice if he could live up here in seattle every so often so I could take care of him and give my mom a break. I have offered to let him stay in my apartment but it is too crowded (i have 2 roommates) and not accessible. The ideal would be that my dad could live here for a week at a time or so and live at home the rest of the time just to give my mom a break. I was wondering if anyone knew of any options beyond airbnb/hotels. Thanks! Also fyi he already uses behnke house for appointments and stuff

This is the home for lost and found around Tacoma, refreshed every week. If you've lost something or come across something that isn't yours, drop a comment below. A few things that help: Say whether you lost or found the item, and lead with what it is. Add the rough area and the day, as much as you're comfortable sharing. For anything with a serial number or other identifying detail, hold that back in your public comment and trade it over DM once someone reaches out, so the real owner can prove it's theirs. Lost or found a pet? we recommend posting in r/LostPetsTacoma too, but you’re welcome to post in this thread as well. For everyone's safety, please be smart about meeting people from the internet. Comb through the comments before posting in case your item is already here. Good luck, and thanks for looking out for each other.

In this excerpted video of the 9/13/24 Clemency and Pardons Board (CPB) hearing, a witness for the petitioner was also the policy and advocacy director of a foundation that funded the nonprofit that a board member chaired. This does not seem objective or fair. The excerpts show the CPB chair describing the importance of an objective process. The board member introduces himself, and states that he was acquainted with the petitioner and some of the witnesses. The nature of those relationships are not disclosed. The petitioner describes the events related to his pardon request. A witness testifies on behalf of the petitioner. Documents show that this witness is highly connected to the board member, through shared leadership of a foundation, nonprofit, and through the foundation's funding of the nonprofit that the board member chairs; that nonprofit is committed to the liberation of incarcerated people. This does not appear to be an objective or impartial process. The board member appears to be adjudicating a hearing in which he has a financial, fiduciary, and personal interest in the outcome. The full video is available through TVW. The organizations' websites and 990 forms from 2024 document relationships.
