Hey everyone!! Im headed to Seattle in a few days & I’m wondering what are some of the must see spots (other than the space needle lmao). I’m going for work & my hotel is in Bellevue. I am from Florida & know absolutely nothing about Seattle or really the entire Pacific Northwest. I was notified last minute about my work conference… so have limited time to research anything/coordinate any activities. I’ll be there for only 3 days & would love some recommendations for sites to see. From what I’ve seen, the place looks gorgeous & I would love to spend a day hiking…. Any good trails yall know of? Also, I am 23 & have heard decent things about the drinking scene there… so where’s some good spots to bar hop for a Friday night?

Renters of Seattle — for those of you that can’t install an in-wall towel heater rack, what have you done to get your towels to dry 8 months out of the year?

Last in my pocket at Montlake. I took the burke gillman down to shilshole before realizing it fell out of my pocket once I got back to market street. Between 17:30-18:30.

Nidal, the organization behind the Cal Anderson celebration of the Oct 7th massacre. 3 screenshots declaring their mission to bring similar carnage to our region. Washington State Human Rights Commisisoner and Northshore School board Director Han Tran endorsed the.message She voted to keep safety officers out of schools despite parents and students wishes. Scenes from the Oct 7th celebration on Capitol Hill and vandalism occurring that day. Oct 8th City Council meeting, D3 Rep Hollingsworth condemns a sign at the 10/6 meeting that read "Bob KKKettle". Talks about the trauma. Condemns it as hate, as do 2 other city councilmembers. One who timidly mentions that anti-Semitism is a problem too. No mention of the celebration in D3 of the 3rd anniversary of the worst mass carnage of Jews since WWII along with the neighborhood being covered in pro-Hamas, "Long Live Oct 7th" graffiti. 2 people were assaulted by mobs during that event. It's been 3 days at not one local official, the Parks Department, Cal Anderson Park Alliance- has said one word about it.

Found a cat at an apartment complex near botanical garden. Please DM me with the cats photo you have to make sure you are the owner. I don’t have an extra room for it to roam around so I borrowed a crate from a neighbor who has cats. There are owls in this neighborhood so I had to bring him in. Thinking of taking it to a shelter tomorrow if I can’t find the owner. Please let me know if there are other options. I am super allergic to cats so keeping it is not an option.

Three international flights landed at the same time and NO ONE is working at customs. I mean no one. Why does this happen? Doesn’t seem like the flight schedule should be a surprise. I travel internationally pretty often for work. Sometimes I just fly through the return using the little iPads on stands. And sometimes this. If someone knows the actual scheduling constraint I’d love to hear it. But also here for other folks also complaining. Edit: apparently a nationwide outage. Edit: yes, it’s time for me to get global entry. Nudge I needed. But I didn’t see anyone sail through tonight.

They are all women usually with children who walk around University Way asking for donations. They tend to be by Chase bank (across from Canes) or walk and dead stop in the middle of the street (University Ave NE) to trap you to ask for money. I understand being strapped for cash but it seems odd seeing so many women with coincidentally same aged children all needing money for rent. I want to help but I don’t know if there’s some weird group effort going on or not. Has anyone here gotten the chance to chat with any of them?

Hello neighbors, I've been seeing many posts about homeless people in Seattle and truthfully, it breaks my heart. I understand many people are frustrated by their presence in public spaces and I want to have a conversation to actually come up with a feasible solution rather than just throwing judgment and complaints. From the posts in this subreddit and others like it, it seems like nobody wants public services to be funded (housing vouchers/Section 8, shelters, treatment programs, etc). It also seems like homeless people shouldn't be allowed in public spaces (parks, libraries, community centers, transit, etc). So, where do they belong? Jail? A hospital? Or what's another option? To be forthcoming, I work with homeless people. I was also once homeless myself. People assume all homeless people are criminals or addicted to substances (or both). Many of the ones I've worked with fall into homelessness due to violence or unexpected life circumstances, like losing a job, becoming disabled, or worse - having a loved one die that they relied on financially (husband, wife, parent, etc). And for the ones that are the "usual suspects" of being criminals and addicted to substances, what do we do with them? Exile them from any support and hope they just, one day, wake up and decide to sober up, choose to never commit a crime again, and somehow get a job (while having a criminal record and no home...)? I understand my tone may be a bit patronizing but like I mentioned, it's heartbreaking to see so many people disparage homeless communities without offering problem solving. It's not helpful to complain without solutions. In my experience, I've seen public services keep homeless teenagers off the street (literally) by letting them sleep and wash in libraries. Or street medic teams that offer first aid that prevent small cuts and wounds (even from drug use) from becoming infections that land them in the ER and ""costing"" the city more in healthcare and critical ER space. Or harm reduction programs that prevent deaths by overdose through narcan. Or nonprofits that run shelters or day centers with free clothes for homeless people to shower and charge their phones so they can get to a job interview in a presentable fashion. I agree that our systems are not perfect, but each person who transitions out of homelessness because of systemic support is a testament that something that is working. As we think about a massive problem, please remember there is a single individual person who wishes their life could be different. We're all privileged enough to debate and complain about the inconveniences they cause, but in the end our attitudes about our homeless neighbors ultimately determines how they are treated by us interpersonally and systemically. Now I want to ask - what do you suggest we do with the homeless population in Seattle?

Hello! I'm posting this on behalf of my partner, who's a student at the UW school of Dentistry. They're hoping to connect with anyone who might be interested in getting dental treatment at the teaching clinic. All treatments are done under the supervision of licensed faculty dentists. Feel free to comment or reach out if you're interested & I can connect you with them. Thank you 🙂
