Hey everyone! I’m 22M and looking to meet new people and make genuine friendships with people I can hang out with, preferably around the U District! I’m pretty introverted, but I’m trying to put myself out there, meet people around my age, and hopefully overcome my social anxiety along the way lol. I’d love to find some genuine friends to hang out with, explore places, grab food, or just chill together. If you’re interested, feel free to DM me and introduce yourself with your name and Instagram! I’m usually more active on Instagram, so it would be easier to connect there. :)

How many Ballardites are there nowadays ? 70k? Probably more with all the new density. This neighborhood is much larger than the entire city I was born in (Santa Fe, NM). I’ve been here for 17 years, and back then people were complaining about how newcomers like us changed things so much, and now we are seeing the same thing with the surge of young people with $$. It rubs a lot of people the wrong way, but a healthy city needs a strong group of engaged and invested and irritated citizens to provide some resistance. The alternative is a stagnant or dying neighborhood. I’m grateful for all the discord.

As part of its requests for the state's next two-year spending plan, the Department of Social and Health Services suggested restricting eligibility for services could save $13.3 million, about $6 million of which would come from the state's general fund. This suggested change would end Medicaid eligibility for an estimated 2,655 residents, according to the Department of Social and Health Services. It would mean some people receiving care in residential facilities would lose their housing since it's contingent upon qualifying, potentially pushing them into homelessness. "Unfortunately, cutting community services will end up costing the state and taxpayers more." - Stacy Dym, executive director of The Arc of Washington State, quoted in the article ~ Lawmakers already rejected this idea once, in the current budget. It is back priced at 2,655 people off Medicaid for savings that do not start until fiscal 2029, and the agency's own framing is that it targets the clients with the lowest support needs.

I haven’t lived here long. I just moved this past summer. Overall, I’m having a great time. From the nature, to the energy, to the eccentricity. It’s great. I want to ask this without coming off as offensive but has anyone made the observation that people really hate doing anything that pertains to the job they were hired for when you ask for assistance? I asked my property manager to replace a window screen, you would have thought I asked for a full bathroom remodel. I ask my coworker to cover for me while I step out on my 10min. He reacted like I was asking for him to take my shift. I ask someone at the store where an item is, they react like I just asked them to do a full inventory search. If I’m wrong, please tell me. I honestly don’t know if I’m the problem here

I will be visiting Seattle to see my friend in November. I want to see some of the beautiful PNW nature even though it will likely be pretty cold. I saw that there is a pretty historic jazz scene in Seattle and think it would be awesome to check out a jazz bar. I love history and anything old and historic is going to fascinate me. What should I do with my partner while I'm visiting and my friend is busy at work?

I work in a building in downtown Seattle that also has Homeland Security offices in it. This week, I rode in an elevator with a person who got off on the DHS floor. They were carrying a large clear plastic bag labeled with Homeland Security. Inside the bag were dozens of smaller bags that looked like evidence collection bags, sealed with a red strip at the top, that seemed filled with fluid samples. Maybe urine? I’m just wondering what this could be. Anyone know what kind of evidence ICE is collecting?
