I am a commuter to UWT, noticed while driving on I-5 north a giant slowdown on I-5 south near Federal Way consisting of 10+ police vehicles at the scene (1 damaged) and multiple ambulances. Anyone heard about any causes? Was wondering if it was a chase or something.

My building is looking to hire a new landscaper for routine yard maintenance. It’s a smaller building on 24th Ave NW near 61st. Does anyone have recommendations? A lot of it is leaf debris, weed removal, and maintenance around the front shrubs. It’s an apartment building so no true “yard”.
Coming home down Lake Washington Blvd, someone decided to tailgate me and drive around the speed bumps by using the bike lane. Then, when I stopped to make a left hand turn into my complex, they passed me with maybe an inch between his mirror and mine. If I'd been just a little bit more to the left, he would have taken it right off. So tell me, is it worth the 20 seconds you saved getting to the RR crossing at Houser? Hmm? Is it worth the moving violation you'd get if you did hit me and I called the police? I'll bet good money he didn't know the stop line is before the crossing gate and not directly on the tracks in front of it.
I've had to remind myself several times now that it is my obligation to consider harm reduction above my own disdain. As The Stranger said 'Say you’re stranded on a desert island. Do you drink hot piss, or drink seawater and die? If you want to survive, it is bottoms up for piss, and for voting Kim Schrier.' Bottoms up indeed.
I will be visiting Seattle for the first time in early December and will not be renting a car. I have decided that public transportation will work for what I like to do. Any suggestions for how to use public transportation would be greatly appreciated. I only have buses where I live, and a lot of it will be new to me. So far, I plan to visit some of the tourist attractions like the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden, Pike Place, and a few other big attractions in that immediate area. I am looking for other things to do, especially later in the day, that are not drinking or hiking. I am considering a ghost tour and the Museum of Illusions. I think I will be there for the Seattle Christmas Market. I would like to take a boat tour of some kind and would like recommendations. Really looking for tours, shopping, shows, science, or space stuff. I think I saw something about wooden boat tours? I can't find it now. I would like other holiday-themed things that might be happening in the area too. I am not worried about food, as I just make sure to try new places as I go. Whales would be really cool to see as well if they are in the area around that time. Suggestions appreciated
Hi all! I'm a local indie author living in Kenmore, WA. Last year I self-published my debut novel, Critical Balance, in August. Since then I've been hard at work on the sequel. 2026 has been a hard year. In January I had to put my sweet cat of 17 years to sleep due to kidney disease. It was awful. Then in the spring we had to move out of our home and find a new one. That took over two months during which time we had to live in Airbnbs and hotels. We finally found a house, moved in, and then my wife got laid off from her job because her position was replaced by AI. Despite all of that, I managed to finish the first draft of the new novel, Citizen Zero, and now I've finished the second draft. I was hoping to get it published this year, but that doesn't seem realistic at this point, as I still want to send it out to alpha and beta readers, get feedback, and then do at least a couple more revisions. My debut novel went through seven revisions before I felt it was ready to publish. I'm over the moon that I've made so much progress on this book! It was a lot of work, and at times extremely difficult, but it was also a joy to create. I can't wait for people to read it, and I'm especially looking forward to hearing what readers of the first book think of it. https://www.amazon.com/Critical-Balance-Lex-Starwalker/dp/B0FMCKXNDG
I spent the last few weeks looking into what’s being sold at gas stations and smoke shops around the South Sound, and one thing surprised me. There’s no state law setting a minimum age to buy kratom or 7-OH. Lots of shops card on their own, but nothing requires it. Three bills to set the age at 21 all died in Olympia this year. 7-OH is the one that worries me most. It’s a concentrated opioid-like compound, much stronger than plain kratom leaf, and the DEA only started the process to schedule it this month. Health officials in other states have also found it hidden, unlabeled, in products sold as “cat’s claw.” I’m not arguing to take kratom away from adults. I’d just like to see an age limit and honest labels. Curious if other parents here knew this, or if you’ve seen shops in town that don’t card. I wrote up everything I found, with sources, here if anyone wants the details: https://ewyattmendel.substack.com/p/the-systemic-poisoning-of-our-youth?r=8wwcsh&utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web Have your kids or their friends mentioned kratom or 7-OH? I’m curious how common it is at the high schools? Should Washington set an age limit of 21, like it does for tobacco and vapes? Or would that just push it underground? Have you seen shops in town that sell it without carding?
What do you all think of this? Surveillance shows this doctor getting to his United gate at ~10:42-10:43 p.m., with boarding supposed to close at 10:45. The flight was scheduled for departure at 11 p.m. He says the agent saw him and shut the door. There’s also a photo of the gate monitor still showing boarding underway. If you pause the video, there’s a letter from United saying he couldn’t travel because of “operational disruptions beyond [the passenger's] control.” The weird part is he then helped with medical emergencies on both replacement flights lol. According to the report, he eventually got more than $2,000 in refunds. Curious what people make of the boarding situation?
Does anyone know of any 18+ raves happening this weekend (or just before 10/20) ? I have a friend who's visiting me and he really wants to go to a rave, but I'm not really a raver so I don't have any connections to find any LOL. We're also both 20 and don't have fakes as of rn, so it's got to be an 18+ event. We're in CapHill, so that be the most ideal, but as long as public transport can take us there we're open to all suggestions. It may be a long shot, but I figured it doesn't hurt to ask. Thanks!!
I assume that means the Picklr facility in the old Big Lots store on Pearl will never open. https://www.foxbusiness.com/lifestyle/pickleball-facility-franchisor-files-bankruptcy-founder-acknowledges-business-mistake-i-own-it
