Hi everyone- I am new to posting on Reddit. I am running for Washington state House of Representatives, Legislative District 5. I voted as Democrat in the past and considered myself a Democrat from childhood (my dad used to be the chairman of the Democratic Party where I grew up). Just recently, after disagreeing with several bills, legislative initiatives, unfunded mandates, one size fits all housing regulations, raiding of pension funds, gutting of public safety laws, an unconstitutional income tax that surreptitiously includes pensions and retirements, and questionable ethics of some members (and I know that there are more than a few Republicans in the same boatI), I switched parties to just right of center on the political spectrum. Washington state House of Representatives is about local politics. This seat will not have impact on a national level. I do want to fairly and ethically serve the people of my district. Listening is important. it is especially important when you sign up to serve people in your Legislative District. I am very interested to learn what people want most from their legislator. What would you like to see changed in our states? What issues are most important to you? I’m interested in having civil and respectful Please go easy on me :) Michelle Bennett

Howdy a little embarrassed, but i need recs for an accountant that isn’t going to be a dick and will be helpful. tldr ; due to economic hardship, haven’t filled taxes in a bit. couple years. taxes are being withheld from check, but not filed. what is the best action to help here? any recommendations are appreciated. worried that, given my situation AND the current administration / economy about how to get out of this. feels overwhelming. thanks!

I just want to extend my gratitude to the ASL group that was with my family on the light rail from the M's game Saturday. You were very patient with my kids and myself. They talked about wanting to learn more ASL after we got home. Thank you!

In a closely watched decision, Washington's largest union of state government workers has ratified a new two-year contract that provides no pay raises but avoids takeaways on health care and other benefits. The collective bargaining agreement runs from July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2029 and covers roughly 42,000 workers. Meanwhile, an arbitrator awarded 1.5% raises in each of the next two years to roughly 1,480 state Department of Corrections employees represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees. ~ Same employer, same budget shortfall. The 1,480 who went to an arbitrator got 1.5% a year. The 42,000 who sat at the bargaining table got nothing.

I’m driving up from Portland for The Hayley Williams Show at White River on Wednesday and have a GA pit ticket, so I’m hoping to get there pretty early. The problem is that the venue parking doesn’t open until later, so this is a bit of a long shot: does anyone who lives within walking distance of White River have a driveway/parking spot they’d be willing to let me use? Happy to pay, obviously! It’s just one small Chevy Cruze. Ideally I’d love somewhere I could leave it from early Wednesday morning until after the show, but even just being able to park for a few hours in the morning until the venue lot opens would be incredibly helpful. If you’re nearby or know someone who does this for concerts, please DM me! Thank you 🙏

Was walking to Total Wine, when I saw a cat on the ground meowing up a storm. Didn't seem feral, did seem super scared. As I was looking at it, someone driving by said they had just seen it fall out of one of the windows and land on the awning before jumping on a car and ending up at the spot where I saw her by a Total Wine window. He did not know which window it was. Animal control was closed. There was some blood on the ground by her, so we classified that as an emergency and called 911. Police came and took her to an emergency vet. I believe they were planning on taking her to Timberline.
