I was born and raised here. My husband is from the Midwest, and he has pointed out words he thinks I have an accent with my pronunciation. I am wondering if these are a "me" thing or if others who grew up here say these the same as me. Both - bolth With - use a hard th (like in the) instead of a soft th (like in math) Pillow - pellow Egg - long A, like in pay Also, I have heard people say we pronounce bagel weird here. I say bay-gull. Is that not how most parts of the country say it?

I am looking into the middle schools in Tacoma. Particularly the ones in my area: Steward, Giaudrone and First Creek, but also on any other ones as well. All I see is really discouraging numbers on Google about test scores being in the bottom 50% of WA. I would appreciate any guidance, personal experiences, anything. Thank you!

I’ve seen a lot of people looking for work on local subs lately, and while I have no jobs to offer (yet - maybe when people start having disposable income and buying rocks again), I was inspired by Saint Planthony’s story about posting on Reddit and ending up selling gay plants. So I came to ask for others to share their success stories. I spent the last few days in DC, where I learned we’re “winning AI” (see the hundreds of posters plastering the metro stations) and “America will never be a communist country” (I thought we knew that but the local tv there has commercials about it paid for by our government so I guess we didn’t?) and I need to hear some stories about hope. I know it seems like a small thing but that sweatshirt was from my favorite job, an ER tech at Emanuel in Portland. I can’t get another one. It’s the only souvenir i have from the last time my life felt stable. I left it at Keel on the coat rack after one of my shifts here and the next time I came in it was gone.
