I was fully prepared for $200-250 per month to insure a 2,500 sq ft 1960s home but my agent came back with $318 as the best option. Am I out of touch? Are y’all paying this much??

Hi I’m a Washington local (23F). I’m moving to Seattle like in the next week (signed my lease). I have so much to buy since I’m moving out of my parents house for the first time and living alone. Didn’t move out for college either. To be honest I’m really scared and doubting my decision. Financially I can afford it but again looking at the money leaving my bank account is rough. I work in tech if that helps. I also don’t have a car (after moving in). All my friends also live outside the city. Any advice? I’m legit gonna be sleeping on just my mattress this first week 😭 how do I make friends here? Did I screw up financially? Edit: moving to cap hill
Good morning! I live in Shoreline & have a gym I normally go to. However, I am going to be picking up some work in First Hill this Friday & want to know if there are any gyms close by (or even in Cap Hill) that have day passes I could purchase to work out before I go to work? Thanks in advance!
This should make your blood boil. We are in a legitimate cost of living crisis right now. Fuel increases are just getting started, the dollar is in the crapper, we’re paying more and getting less. Property taxes jumped over 50% for many this last go-around. Rents are getting jacked - there’s no end in sight to any of this. And here we have Lakewood PD. Not just 1 car and officer. TWO. Sitting in their cars. Doing jack shit. This tree company could direct traffic itself…if it even needed to. It’s not rush hour, and there’s two lanes of clearance to drive past here. Make your voices heard at city hall.
Does this service exist? Someone I could pay to take our existing stuff and set up our home office? Maybe decorate it a little? And organize the random stuff in boxes?
In the June Court of Appeals ruling, a panel of three judges agreed that unlike allegations of child abuse, which the state has a duty to investigate, the law doesn't obligate the department to provide protective services or investigate alleged vulnerable adult abuse. [...] Washington has also been falling consistently short of its goal to close 75% of its vulnerable adult investigations within 90 days, instead closing only about 15% within 90 days, according to APS data from 2022 to 2025. Beth McDaniel, an elder-law attorney in Renton who serves on the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys board of directors, said that given the court's decision in Bell's case, people with concerns about elder abuse might be better off calling 911 than APS. ~ Nine reports about one man with dementia, every one closed out, and the state's answer in court was that it was never required to look into any of them.
Hey Tacoma / Pierce County community, I am looking to connect with any single, separated, or divorced mothers and fathers in the area who find themselves dealing with sudden child support enforcement or frozen bank accounts. Check your paperwork: Are they listing your name explicitly as a "Debtor" or "Obligor" and listing DSHS/the state as a "Creditor" ? A federal civil rights lawsuit is currently active ( Case No. 3:26-cv-05698-TMC ), challenging how Pierce County uses automated database systems to extract personal data—specifically Social Security Numbers—and enroll parents into enforcement tracks without an actual voluntary written application or mutual consent. If you or someone you know has always been and is still actively providing for and supporting your children, and was wrongfully enrolled into the Title IV-D system within Pierce County, without your consent, without ever filing an application or paying a fee: Please leave a comment below or send me a private Direct Message (DM). I am putting together a community record to prove how widespread this automated practice really is. Sharing your story can help document this pattern for the court and help protect local families. Everything stays completely private between us until you choose otherwise. Thank you!
I hike around Tiger Mountain and Issaquah a fair amount, and the last few weeks I've noticed an aggressive number of parking tickets on windshields along the residential streets near trail access points. People used to just park where they could fit and nobody cared. Now it looks like someone is calling it in or the city suddenly started paying attention. Reminds me of that Ravenna post about the person calling the cops on parked cars. I get it, it's annoying to have your street clogged with Subarus, but the trail lots fill up by 8am and the overflow has to go somewhere. I started parking way further out and walking, which is fine because I'm a physical therapist and walking is literally the thing I tell people to do all day. But it's still weird to come back from a nice hike and see five cars tagged. My freelance schedule lets me go on weekday mornings so I mostly dodge it, but weekend hikers are going to have a rough time. Has anyone dealt with this or know if a specific neighborhood started cracking down? I'm not looking for legal loopholes or anything, just trying to figure out if this is a real pattern or if I'm only noticing it now because I'm out there more often. The parking situation around here keeps getting tighter and I genuinely wonder if there's any actual plan for it, or if it's all just reactive complaints.
I’m looking for a black and grey realism artist in Seattle Tacoma area. Trying to finish out my sleeve, got pieces I need to incorporate into one sleeve.
Might be a silly question, but, as a local (Tacoma resident, Seattle employee) I haven’t been to the waterfront in a few years. Today a family member from out of town was visiting and we were at Elliott Bay. She wanted to eat something non-seafood, and Red Robin seemed like the easiest place. Did I miss it, or is it gone? When?
