I just moved here a few months ago from south seattle and haven’t noticed any of the crime I was warned about by my older family members and coworkers. There’s a few homeless people here and there but they don’t seem particularly dangerous (dare I say, when we’ve talked in passing they seem like normal people) and there’s a lot fewer than I’m used to in Seattle. To be clear I am not in a bougie area, my house and all my neighbors’ houses are in the 400-600k range and we street park. In Seattle I got robbed literally the first day I moved there when I left a bag in the back seat and windows smashed a few times. Here, no one has even tried the handle (knock on wood). Earlier I was at a construction site and talking to the foreman and he mentioned he lives in Lakewood and likes his lake house but “can’t leave his own neighborhood due to all the gang activity everywhere nearby”. That “even elementary kids are involved and maybe 1 kid per class even speaks English, the rest are kids of gang members.” He’s a middle aged burly man, I’m a 20-something woman. Should I feel less comfortable than I do? Am I missing something? Do I just not get out enough?

Hey, I'm looking for someone to move a washer, dryer, and other things from Eaton Township to Lakewood. You'll have to haul it out of one basement and then down into another. Shoot me a message if you're interested.
I just rode past a blonde haired, tough guy walking down glennwood avenue, and he reached in his bag like he was gonna pull a gun on me.
I found two lost or stolen tablets in Belltown. If you recently lost similar items, please provide a description of their covers and I can help you find them.
There was a recent post in the other sub about the Seattle Freeze that resonated and the comments were very discouraging so I’m here for a gut check and would appreciate the input of people from other American cities who are now here, or from here and now in other cities. I’m from a place in Canada where I was extremely well connected with a rich sense of community. I’ve also lived briefly in Toronto, and a different country for a short time (6 months each) where I also had strong community. Seattle is the only city in the US I’ve lived in, and I’ve never felt so lonely in my life. I have dozens and dozens of friends here, but none of them are close. I have no one to put as a secondary emergency contact. Everyone says to go to this or that event. And I do! And I chit chat with people and have fun, but it almost never goes deeper. I have a few friends I consider close, but they have many more and I’m certainly not their closest friend. One got married and I wasn’t invited, and another had a baby shower I wasn’t invited to. We invite people over but it never gets reciprocated. I could have never imagined living someone with so many lovely nice people that I cannot seem to scratch the surface with. Thinking about how social and connected I was back home, sometimes I look around and have no idea how I ended up in this situation. Am I being left out? Am I doing something wrong? Or are my expectations of friendship intimacy just out of step with what most Seattleites want? Do Seattleites just want to chit chat during hobby meetups and leave it at that? I just feel so fucking lonely and do NOT want to do another damn activity to meet more people!! I want depth, not more breadth. Are other big American cities different or more of the same? I’m emotionally exhausted and trying to see if this place is just not for me. I love so much about this city but I can’t handle living like this much longer.
I feel like I’m playing Wheel of Fortune to figure out street signs. Is it because of cost cutting or using less effective environmentally friendly products?
Please, I am begging - DO NOT ever, ever purchase an American Home Shield home warranty closing gift for your clients. You may think this is a great gift, but you are gifting your client a complete nightmare. After the year of the warranty being over, your client will begin to receive relentless renewal calls every single day, multiple times a day for months and months on end. No matter if they tell American Home Shield they are not interested, another person from the company will call - so on and so forth. They will file complaints online but the calls continue. It's awful!
I’ve lost so many doctors. Appointments book out for months. When I’m sick I go to urgent care as my PCP is full. I try to be seen as self-pay, and the offices can’t figure it out. I use my insurance and still get surprise bills. Like a $200 bill in addition to what I already paid for an ENT to see me for five minutes and put a camera up my nose. The whole system is broken and in crisis. I am at the point of giving up and tired of starting over again and again with different doctors.
I have heard so many mixed things about this school and I just cannot tell if its good or not. Anyone have something to say about it? Im looking at the PsyD program and wanting to do forensics. Just curious if anyone in Seattle has meet or worked with people from this school.
Just looking for fun people and deep conversations on interesting topics. Just expanding my friend’s group and hoping to meet intellectually challenging and fun people. No drama for me
