I just moved to the Seattle / Bellevue area from the east coast, and I feel really sad. I’ve been so excited to move here, but now that I’m actually here, I feel like I just wanna go home. I’m leaving the past 19 years of my entire life back home on the other side of the country. I have no one out here. I already just miss my mommy like crazy. She’s gonna be all alone too, and I feel guilty. What do I even do? How do I even meet people? How do I begin to live on my own like this when I don’t know anything? (I’ve essentially been a complete hermit for the past 3 years — even being in public makes me want to throw up. I don’t belong even at home, and so here it feels 20x worse.)

Dough Zone is special to me: my girlfriend and I met there, we’ve visited 200+ times, and the Sweet & Sour Cucumber has always been our favorite dish. I’ve tried recreating the sauce and even contacted Dough Zone, but I’m still stuck. It’s vivid orange, glossy, smooth, and fairly runny with no visible seeds, chili flakes, garlic pieces, or sediment. It’s mildly spicy, sweet-and-tangy, and distinctly nutty (almost peanut-like, though it could be sesame.) My best guess is rice vinegar, sugar, red chili oil, toasted sesame oil and MSG. If you currently or formerly worked there (or recognize this sauce) could you share clue? Is it made in-store, produced centrally, or purchased prepared? What creates its nutty flavor and smooth orange texture? This is strictly for home cooking. Even one clue, rough ratio, or full copycat would mean a lot. Thanks!

Hi, my dog recently got out of a sitters backyard on Overlook Ave NE and was hoping anyone could keep an eye out for her. She’s a German shepherd mix, her name is Sable, and she’s wearing a pink collar. Please and thank you!

I'm aware this is a peak first world problem but I just want to eat some good sushi. I've found a lot of places that have great fish but the rice is always the let down. Whether it's the rice to fish ratio is off or they use some kind of cheaper Californian rice variety, etc. I know the higher-end spots I've looked at also tend to be all omakase but I just want to pick all my favorites instead of being locked into a set menu. Looking for a nicer place, roughly $75+ is fine, I only really eat nigiri or sashimi.

They generally do a really poor job, and they do this every time - they run their leaf blower and push everything into the street and surrounding properties. The area in this photo, on my property, was nearly bare dirt before they arrived. The fresh trimmings you see are all from shrubs on the neighbor's property. (The overall area is much larger than this, but still similar coverage.) We've talked to the property owners and now property manager multiple times. We've suggested going in together on a landscaper (especially for shared trees), but they refuse to hire an actual arborist. We've also suggested they hire one of our teenagers to do the work, but they're not interested.

Hey everyone! I recently came across a book club up in Seattle with a really neat reading list, but the drive is a little less than convenient for me. I decided to reach out to ask whether they'd be interested in starting a sister chapter locally and am hoping to hear back soon. In the meantime, I figured I'd see whether there's interest here! Whether as part of the bigger group, or as our own independent thing, I'd love to create some community with you all. I'd love to meet up and discuss a monthly book one saturday/sunday evening per month, in a local coffee shop or cozy pub. I'm based in south end Tacoma so I've mostly considered places here and in Lakewood/Spanaway. It would be my first time organizing something like this, so I'm very open to suggestions and collaborative decisions! Of course, if we kick off a club as a chapter of a larger club, we'll be adopting their reading list. But until then, I thought I'd include some options from my own TBR list to see if we might share similar tastes. Some of these have been on the list for a longgg while 🫣 help me choose one! If anyone is interested in joining, feel free to comment or reach out in a message!

Hey all, I’m going to the ice cube concert tomorrow and my ticket is in the pit. How early should I get in line to try to get the absolute front row since the pit is GA. What gate do I use? I have the concert ticket in my apple wallet is that the same one for the fair admission? I don’t go to concerts often so any advice is helpful.
