Hi there! Wondering if any of you have recommendations for local design and build contractor? We want to fix our unfinished garage and the attic above it (make it into living space and bathroom). No self referral please! Also if anyone can message me contractors to avoid, I would appreciate it. Thank you.
I ordered one on Amazon for a trip tomorrow and just got a delivery delay notification. Does anyone know of any actual stores around here where I could pick one up before tomorrow?
Hello, I got a noticed that I received a ticket back in August. However I never got a ticket. The license on the ticket is mine (CWZ8018) I drive a yellow Toyota SUV. However the picture on the ticket is a completely random Chevy SUV with the license plate CWZ8010. I tired to request a hearing but it got denied because the ticket is over 30 days and they said I have to pay it. Anyone got any advice to deal with this situation? It’s not fair that a ticket that isn’t mine is getting sent to collections and I can’t get it dismissed because i never got the ticket in the first place. I had to look up the ticket on the Seattle court website to get a copy of it. Thank you.
I’m planning to move to Seattle in January from Maryland. I’ve already bought my ticket, have a close friend there who can help me settle in, and I’m currently working to save money before the move. I also got accepted to college there. Honestly, Maryland just doesn’t feel like the right place for me anymore, and I’m ready for a fresh start in a new environment. For those who live in Seattle, what advice would you give someone moving there for the first time? Anything I should know or prepare for beforehand?
If a landlord violates the law, the main avenue to address it is often in the courts, which some housing activists say isn't a realistic option for most renters. The initiative would make the city responsible for going after noncompliant landlords and issuing fines. Tacoma for All gathered nearly 9,000 signatures to get the initiative on the ballot, following a wave of tenants' unions forming throughout the city earlier this year. ~ The 2023 protections passed by fewer than 400 votes and have sat there ever since, enforceable mostly by whoever could afford a lawyer. Nine thousand signatures later, the thing on the ballot is a simpler question: is a tenant right a right if the city never checks?
I've inherited some antique guns (pistols, revolvers and a rifle). I'm looking for recommendations for getting them appraised. Thanks.
Hi! I hope this is the correct Reddit to ask this! Me and my gf have been thinking about moving to the west coast and right now Seattle is our top pick by far. We plan to visit for about 10 days in February and if all goes well we’d be moving in April/May. We have visited on the west coast before (Cali - Hawaii) but I know Washington is different from those places. Anyways we love being by the water and nature (we love hikes, walks, greenery etc). Right now we have about 20K in savings right now and if we were to move thankfully both of our companies have locations out there so we would just get transfers so we definitely have job security no matter what. What’s the scene like out there? We are coming from Texas (not conservatives) and feel like it may be a huge world shift for us in so many different ways. Is this a place you all enjoy living? Are there more pros than cons you’d say? What’s some of the best places to visit or things to do on a visit? We’d be hoping to find a 1bd 1bath up to 2500. We could go more but don’t really want to lol Willing to share more details on our situation if it helps the conversation on if a move is really plausible for us.
For 18 years, through my work with Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates, I have fought to support and protect Washington’s youth and help families thrive. This election, three ballot initiatives — I-001, I-638, and I-645 — threaten to enact harmful policies affecting schools, students, families, health care, and taxes. All three are promoted by MAGA millionaire Brian Heywood and Let’s Go Washington, the group that two years ago pushed to slash funding from education, bankrupt our long-term care benefit program, and gut funding to address climate change are trying to roll us backward again. These ballot measures are so wrong for Washington that the Seattle Times editorial board has come out against all three, slamming them as “flawed,” “poorly written,” and “fear-mongering.” Initiative 645 takes away $13 billion in funding for education and childcare, eliminates free school meals for many K-12 students, and increases costs for healthcare and taxes on working families and small businesses by repealing Washington’s Millionaires Tax. All to give another unneeded tax cut to a handful of Washington’s wealthiest. Opposition to I-645 is strong, with organizations including the Children’s Alliance, League of Women Voters, Food Lifeline, Washington State Labor Council, and more joining small businesses, educators, and dozens of other advocates for working families, students, and retirees. Initiative 001 purports to promote parents’ rights but is so backwards and poorly written, it actually undermines them. Our state Attorney General Nick Brown says the measure removes parents’ rights to immediate notification if their child has been the victim of a crime at school – an outrageous impact. Not only that, but I-001 would force schools to hand over confidential counseling or other medical records to parents — even those who have been charged with abusing their own child— leaving kids at greater risk and pushing trusted adults out of reach. Forcing teachers and school counselors to “out” LGBTQ+ students to unsupportive families will worsen Washington’s youth mental health crisis. As a parent, I understand deeply the vital role that we play in the lives of our children. I also know the heartbreaking fact that not every student has a supportive home environment, as evidenced by more than 100,000 reports of child abuse and neglect in Washington during 2024 alone. Getting care should never depend on having a safe home. And a student in need shouldn’t have to fear retaliation simply for seeking help. I-001 is opposed by the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, WA State Nurses Association, The League of Women Voters of Washington, and the Washington State PTA. We must reject Initiative 638, the most extreme MAGA initiative of its kind in the U.S. It sounds too outrageous to believe, but this disgusting measure would impose invasive government-mandated sex inspections on all K-12 girls who want to participate in sports. If I-638 passes, doctors would be required to verify a girl’s sex based on “reproductive anatomy,” or conduct expensive hormone or genetic tests as part of a sports physical, according to Sec. 3(2). And this requirement only applies to girls, not boys. I-638 in no way keeps sports safe for girls. Sports physicals don’t – and shouldn’t – require anyone to look at girls’ genitals. There’s no legitimate reason for it. Rather than keep girls safe as MAGA millionaire Brian Heywood maintains in his fearmongering, I-638 puts young girls at greater risk of harm. We’ve seen this time and time again across the country, where MAGA politicians claim to be protecting women and girls but are actually trying to distract us by playing politics with vulnerable students, especially trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and queer kids. The WA State Nurses Association, more than 100 physicians and other health care providers, and more than 400 community groups and elected leaders strongly oppose I-638. These initiatives do nothing to solve the real issues Washington families are facing. We can protect kids and programs that benefit working families by simply voting No on these harmful initiatives. Hi everyone, I’m getting married in Leavenworth next year 10/9/27, and I’m wondering if any restaurants there are able to accommodate 20ish people for a small dinner after the ceremony. The venue offers dinner and whatnot but it is very expensive and we are trying to keep costs as low as possible especially considering our small headcount and the fact that we are lowkey, no DJ or dancing or anything like that lol just a small dinner with our immediate families! Also worried about it being in the middle of Oktoberfest but my fiance is pretty set on that.
