Has anyone had experience with a birth (and/or postpartum) doula on the eastside? I'm a first time parent, due next spring and planning to deliver at Swedish Issaquah with the midwives. It's unfortunately not covered by my insurance so I'm still trying to decide if it's worth hiring a birth doula or maybe just a postpartum one since we do plan on taking some pre-birth education classes and we will be with the midwifery program. Would love to hear folks' experiences!

My across the street neighbor abandoned this cat when she sold her house about a year ago. The cat is fixed and chipped. She was born in spring of 2021. I know this because that neighbor tried to give me kittens from her cat during that time. I asked Seattle humane if they could take her but they said since she’s been outside they can’t take her and now she’s a community cat. She’s not. She doesn’t want to be outside and she is very loving. She keeps trying to come in my house but my dog will hurt her so I can’t let her in. I’m the only one in my neighborhood that feeds her and she only stays on my porch or goes in my backyard. She wants to come in but my dog has a high prey drive. I don’t want to make her stay out in the cold again over winter. She needs to be inside. Just trying to help this cat. I’ve also asked around my neighborhood while walking my dog but no one wants her. I’m not calling animal control by the way. I’ve done that several times before and it’s really traumatizing for cats.

At least 43 authors have received emails claiming interest in their books for the KUOW Book Club. At least one person paid the impersonator. In 2025, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Internet Crime Complaint Center, or IC3, received more than 1 million reports totaling over $20 billion in losses. Washington ranked 11th in the country, with more than 25,000 complaints filed in the state. ~ A Gmail address with kuow.org wedged in front of the @ sign was the whole trick. Check what comes after the @ before you check anything else.

This week it will take place this Monday, at 7:30 PM at Linda's Tavern, 707 E Pine St. Please note that Linda's Tavern is 21+ only. Start time is typically more like 7:00, as people tend to show up then to order food, chat, and just socialize. Don't worry if you don't see any games as they'll be brought out soon enough. Start time for board games will be at 7:30, so if you don't want to be left out be sure to show up before then! If you're new, look for the collection of board games people usually bring. FAQ: Q.) How often does this group meetup? A.) Unless stated otherwise, this is a weekly meetup. Meaning every Monday we try to gather up and socialize. If we are skipping a week for holiday or some other reason, it will be noted in this post. Q.) What kind of games are played? Should I bring mine? A.) A whole slew of games are played; from short games like Codenames and Liars Dice, to longer ones like Evolution and Colonizing Mars. And feel free to bring your own games, too. You might find some people who are interested in trying it out. Q.) I don't really know how to play any board games besides x, y, z.... Will I be welcome here? A.) That's completely fine. There are plenty of people who are willing to explain the rules and do quite a good job at it, too. Q.) Speaking of being welcome, what kind of people are allowed to attend? A.) Everyone is welcome, so long as you are polite, respectful, and considerate of the other patrons.
I love this moving 3 minute video by local documentarian/historian, BJ Bullert, about the Duwamish, featuring Ken Workman, whose ancestor is Chief Seattle. Thought I would share it here: https://vimeo.com/645586606
Hey all the house I moved into inherited a piano at some point and I’m moving soon. I don’t want to just haul it to the dump if I don’t have to. Anyone know of a good way to donate it or get rid of it?
