Reality: It is not illegal for a US employer to lay off or replace a US citizen with an H-1B visa holder. Employers are not required to prove that American workers are unavailable before hiring an H-1B visa holder. There is no shortage test of US workers or labor market test of any kind required to hire H-1B holders. The H-1B visa is simply a legal authorization for foreign workers to work in the United States. H-1B holders do not need to prove that they are filling a labor shortage and their employer can hire them. However, if they apply for a green card through an employment-based category that requires PERM labor certification, they must go through the PERM/labor market testing process. There is no PERM requirement for hiring H-1B workers. 31% of H-1B workers fall under Level 1 wages [Entry level Wages], 51% under Level 2 wages [Qualified Wages], and the remaining 18% under Levels 3 [Experienced] and 4 [Fully Competant] combined, based on the Department of Labor's wage levels adjusted for occupation and location. You can check your wage level here: OFLC Wage Search | FLAG.DOL.GOV . All this commentary in newspapers claiming that H-1B workers are supposed to fill labor shortages of US citizens is completely false, and there is no law requiring employers to prove such a shortage before hiring H-1B workers.

My husband has dry scalp, we have been going to dermatology arts but it’s not improving, can I get a recommendation for dermatologist
I listed something on Facebook Marketplace for $10. A young woman wanted to pick it up, so I offered to leave it on my porch and said she could check it out and Venmo me if it looked good. She agreed, but when she arrived, she simply took the item and I didn't hear from her again. I sent her a polite message reminding her to Venmo me, but she hasn't responded. It doesn't show that she's read the message, and it's now been several hours since she picked it up. I have a video clip of her taking the item from inside my gated yard, as well as easily identifiable photos on her Facebook profile that match the person in the video. I know it's only $10, but I'm disappointed that someone would agree to pay for something and then take it without paying. How would you handle this situation? Would you give her more time, or take action sooner, or let it go?
We are new to the area and are looking for a landlord or a second chance property or low income. We don’t care the area just need a place we have a 4 month old and being in a hotel isn’t the best. My husband works full time bringing in 7k at the lowest a month and I do DoorDash brining in about $450 on the lowest end a week. The only thing holding us back is a rental debt we have that is more than half paid off from a place we lived in an emergency happened the landlord at the time agreed to let us pay it off overtime and than one day sent us to collections… we had all the intentions on using taxes to pay it in full but still are waiting for that from march from needing to amend a mistake. We are more than willing to pay more put a bigger deposit both anything to a place this is very temporary and can show proof of the payments. If anyone knows of anything we are willing to travel if it’s not in or near Kent. Thank you in advance.
We’re planning our wedding for August 2027 1.5 hours north of Seattle at an outdoor venue and looking for any Seattle or Washington photographer recommendations. We lean more towards candid / lightly directed styles. Hoping to keep budget within 3k-5k for 8+ hours. One thing I’d really value is an end of day Polaroid/instax album. Thanks for any suggestions!
Where is the spicy food?! I love spice. My partner loves it even more. We’re new to the area and trying to find new restaurants to love, but nearly everytime we order (we frequently get take out due to our jobs), the food just isn’t spicy. This isn’t cuisine specific. I’ve had Thai, Mexican, Indian, and right now I’m having some Szechuan beef that just doesn’t cut it on the spice. Where can we go that won’t skimp on this? I need the heat.
My cat has hypertrophic myopathy and may require a dental cleaning. I am very nervous about doing this considering it makes her high risk. I am looking for options for an anesthesia - free dental cleaning or a vet that particularly specializes in this situation. Cats exclusive veterinary center in Shoreline are not accepting new clients. I am willing to travel.
Hi all, I am a pain medicine doctor and was looking to move to the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue area. I worked as an anesthesiologist here before, so I am familiar with the area. I wanted to get an idea of how easy or difficult it has been for patients to get access to their doctor with respect to wait times, being denied medications (specifically opioids when appropriate), and the quality of care being provided. I am considering starting my own private practice, but it is an expensive region to set up shop, so I wanted to get an idea if there is a real need for a doctor that does injections/procedures AND prescribes medications, or if the area is saturated. I would like to get an idea of how likely it would be for me to be successful before I make the leap to open up my own practice in the area. From what I have heard, lots of patients here are tired of going to doctors that are employed by the hospital systems due to wait times, costs, and restrictions.
My friend and I (late 30s) meeting in Seattle and have a day to explore. We’re both considering moving there. How would you spend the day? - mid to late 30s with kids (kids will not be there) - enjoy nature hiking outdoors - enjoy good food and wine, arts etc. - a bit more hippie lean, appreciates vintage shops and community-feel - would ideally get a sense for some of the neighborhoods, namely I think Queen Anne and madrona she may be interested in Thanks!
These were found at my restaurant on the patio after the seahawks game tonight. The restaurant is right by pike place market. We're closed tomorrow for a work party but will be back open Tuesday. If it's you let me know and ill get 'em back to you!(:
