I have an extra ticket to "You Can See Everything" tonight and its a sold out show. I'd like to be nice and give it away. (Is that allowed on this sub if its not a sale and literally just a random offer? If not I'll go to r/sealist
Hi all! I’m from Australia and moved to Seattle a decade ago. I grew up sailing from a family of sailors and am looking to get back into in over here. Any recommendations on how to get involved / find a crew spot on a yacht here? Not looking for anything too hardcore but evening / weekend racing. Thanks for the suggestions!
Moving a little bit early into my lease, if anyone is interested in a 2bd/2ba apt in the heart of Lakewood for ~1850 please DM me! Move in would be mid Nov-Dec
I’ve lived in 4 major cities in my life, and by far the worst offender for bad drivers is Seattle. When you are on the on-ramp for the highway, the stretch of merge lane is meant for you to find a hole in traffic and merge in. Not to just drive to the end of the merge lane and sit there until someone lets you in. You doing that effectively makes traffic worse because now the flowing traffic needs to stop to let you in. Bonus points if the lane to get off the ramp is backed up and you try to cut to the front of the off ramp line because you are a piece of shit and don’t want to wait.
Yesterday I was walking home in the rain and there was a puddle spreading halfway across the intersection near my apartment. Cars were hitting it hard enough to throw water onto the sidewalk, and I assumed the drain was just overwhelmed. Then I noticed the grate was completely covered by a perfect wet mat of maple leaves. I had nowhere important to be, so I used my shoe to move some of them. That didn't work. Found a stick, pulled the rest away, and suddenly there was this deeply satisfying WHOOOOSH as what looked like an entire small pond disappeared in maybe 30 seconds. A guy waiting for the bus actually gave me a thumbs-up. Today I walked past another clogged drain two blocks away and caught myself thinking, well, I can't just LEAVE it like that. Cleared that one too. This is apparently who I am now. The weird part is that once I started noticing them, they're everywhere. One tiny pile of leaves in exactly the wrong spot can turn a perfectly normal corner into Lake Ballard. And fixing it feels absurdly rewarding because the result is immediate. No committee meeting, no six-month construction project, no public comment period. Stick moves leaves. Water goes away. Civilization restored. I realize there are probably plenty of drains you absolutely should not mess with if something is broken or dangerous, and I'm not suggesting anyone go wading into traffic. I'm talking about the obvious ones where you're already safely on the sidewalk and the problem is literally six inches of wet leaves sitting on top. Anyway, Seattle has given me many hobbies over the years. I did not expect amateur puddle removal to become one of them. Has anyone else reached the stage of living here where you involuntarily inspect storm drains while walking around?
Assessment went up again this year and i’m finally going to appeal instead of just complaining about it lol. we’re in washington, house went up about 18% and the ones around us sold for less than what they’re saying ours is worth Been looking at the platforms that handle it and they’re all set up differently. ownwell and o’connor take a cut of whatever you save. appealdesk is a flat fee but you file it yourself with the stuff they give you. owlue does a free look at your assessment first and then puts the appeal together Part of me thinks i should just do it myself with the comps i already pulled. the other part knows i’ll miss something or file it wrong and not find out until it’s too late. curious what people actually ended up using and whether it was worth it compared to doing it alone.
Howdy howdy! I apologize if this is the wrong sub, but this has been nagging me since like 2011 when I found out it had existed. What was the Kingdome actually like to see events in and such before it got imploded? I know it was a multi-use stadium that wasn’t good at any of them, and people pissed in the sinks, but past that I don’t know much. Thank you very much in advance for any response, and I hope y’all have a wonderful day!
It’s been constantly going for several minutes straight. Never heard it like this before. I’m curious if anyone else was woken up by it and if you know why it’s happening
Been hearing more than just the occasional horns. I’m hearing two trains screaming at each other in horn for 2 minutes straight. Curious if anyone else was woken up by it and if anyone knows what going on
