Hi friends! I’m a travel nurse, I’m currently working at Auburn medical center part time but picked up a full time position at Haborview Medical Center. I was wondering, where do yall recommend I should live that I can take public transport/ bicycle to Harborview medical center and drive to Auburn? Auburn has free parking Harborview you have to pay. I have no issues with public transport and do also love bicycles, bicycle up a bunch of hills will kill me can but get it down. Worth bicycle 20-30 mins daily’s road bike.

I recently picked up road cycling about a year ago, and Im really enjoying that the roads and paved trails are safe and accessible to ride here. With the days getting shorter, does anyone have experience in running/cycling in the dark in the East Lake Sammamish Trail or the Sammamish River Trail? How busy is it? I have a headlight mounted on my handlebar, as well as a taillight, not sure if I need anything else for safety.

Anyone know what happened to the Motel 6? Can't book rooms there online and drove past this morning and it's fenced off. We had even tried to call to book a room and the main Motel 6 hub didn't even seem aware that it was closed.

427 cameras are currently streaming into SPD's real-time crime center, including 23 private cameras. 893 additional cameras have been registered with SPD that don't allow direct access. "The failure of SPD to even bother to log a rationale for accessing ALPR data 47% of the time in 2025" - Communities Not Cameras Coalition, quoted in the article ~ 1,320 cameras in the system and a rationale logged for barely half the plate searches. Build first, govern later, apologize if audited.

👋 Hey, I’ve been looking online and haven’t seen anyone else post a Q asking about the helicopter doing rounds a bunch today in Seattle and Capitol Hill area. I heard it multiple times yesterday October 7th from morning until night, and then again throughout the early AM and now again at 5ish going on 5:32 now. Am I missing an event? Anyone else hearing the helicopter/know what’s going on? It’s kind of unnerving 🤔🙁

I'm trying to understand something. Search around and you'll find a number of posts about this horn, some more than a decade old. Several of the comment threads assume it helps boats avoid each other. That seems hard to justify now: this affects well over 100,000 residents, and the benefit would be to boats with no GPS operating in fog at 3 am. We're not talking about a small fishing town. Am I missing something? Is there any boat navigating by sound at 3 am? And how has this gone on for so long? A few notes: This isn't a train. I called the Coast Guard (800-688-6664) and they confirmed it's theirs, in a tone that suggested they aren't thrilled about it either. I estimated the number of people affected by drawing a radius from where I live. A rough estimate puts the total at roughly 250,000 to 300,000 at the high end. I don't have exact figures, I rounded down. I haven't found any data on how many boats rely on the signal overnight. My guess is very few, but I'd like to see actual numbers. What I can't find is any sign that anyone has weighed the number of people affected against the number of boats that depend on it today. If you've complained before, or you know someone at the Coast Guard or on the water who can speak to this, I'd like to hear what happened.
