Hi all! So I applied for the new recruit class for Seattle FD. A little bit about me, I am a 33 year old Trans woman. I spent 3 years doing EMT in Mississippi, and 3 years on the New Orleans Fire Department. I moved to Texas and started doing IT in 2020 and have been doing that ever since. I thought about joining down here but I came out two years ago and I know that would not be a comfortable situation for me here. I’m planning on moving in time for recruit class if I can get in. My question is, how is the department with trans individuals? Is the culture okay? Also, will my background with EMS and Fire help even if my certs expired? Thank you!

Anyone know of affordable gyms near downtown? I just moved to Belltown and am looking for a small gym with flexible hours and minimal equipment. I run, bike, and, swim for cardio, so I’m really only looking for barbells and racks. Lmk if you have any recommendations!

Warning to Seattle parents: Ally Kotetsu, on the left in the video, founded Beyond the Plus, a Seattle-based "radqueer" group advocating for acceptance of minor-attracted people (MAPs) and other paraphilias like zoophiles . Kotetsu openly admits to sexual attraction to children as young as eight and describes a "friendship" with an eight-year-old girl living in the same apartment building in blog posts. Ally's leaked statements about the child are deeply disturbing and should alarm any parent: 1 , 2 More sickening archived content published by this individual: https://allykotetsu.com/archives/ I tried posting this in the main Seattle subreddit. The post was heavily downvoted, then removed by moderators within ten minutes on the grounds that it wasn't related to Seattle. A Seattle resident who openly advocates for acceptance of sexual attraction to children, founded a Seattle-based organization to promote that acceptance, and who currently facilitates a community network for Seattle-area "MAPs" seems pretty relevant to Seattle, doesn't it? Wouldn't Seattle parents want to know about this? If this isn't relevant to the community, what is?

At the October 14, 2026 Everett City Council meeting, the Everett Forward Business Support and Reinvestment package was approved in a unanimous vote. Modernizing the City’s business and occupation (B&O) tax structure, supporting local small businesses and createsnew opportunities to reinvest in Everett’s economy. The package provides significant tax relief for small businesses, reduces the tax rate for retailers and generates approximately $3.5 million in new annual revenue to support economic development initiatives that will strengthen Everett’s commercial districts, improve services for businesses and help attract new investment.

My question is, how do I get to downtown Seattle and see all the “tourist attractions “ if im traveling from the burien transit station. Please explain to me like I am 10 because I am very new to all of this 😭 Thanks!

So long story short, i got a couple days here for a conference so I’ll only have evenings free. I’ve spent 2 summers in Seattle, so I’ve done the basic stuff like pike place and the space needle, but I’m curious if there’s any more “niche” places, restaurants, or activities that yall could recommend that could be done in an evening? No worry about transportation, I used to take the buses at 11pm when I interned here 😭

If your name is Drew (can provide last name in PMs) I found your debit card, two credit cards, and your safeway rewards card on the corner of 61st and 15th. I called your debit card and they were able to lock it but I couldn’t get through to your credit cards without your SSN. I’m holding onto them so if this is you or someone you know lmk and I can give them back! I would need to see ID just to make sure though. :)

Hello! I read other threads on Diamond Parking Lot, where people said they simply don't pay the ticket. I grew up in Seattle and remember when we actually had parking lots that weren't charging an arm and leg or were free. I feel Diamond is such a scourge in the community. That being said, I got a parking ticket for being in a lot literally 5 minutes. It was in a rental car though... do they have a way to track and enforce this other than the plates? Should I pay it in case they somehow contact the rental company, or just do nothing? Rental has already been returned.
