I don't really post here, and don't really know why I feel it worth to say, with maybe just the chance to say thank you and let you know what happened if you visit this subreddit. Today, 10/6, I found an injured young gull lying on Pine St across from the old Egyptian Theater. It had a broken wing and scratched up feet. It was eating something that I believe to be garlic off of the street to the best of its injured ability. I couldn't leave it there, when I approached, a woman stopped her car and helped me in toweling up the bird and moved it onto the grass by the college. She offered me a box for the bird and replaced the towel with a tiny blanket that she was okay with giving away. Before long she vanished with her car down the street and I never got her name. I stayed with the bird who seemed to trust me; I called up places to figure out next steps, and walked the bird home and started the drive to PAWS Snohomish which is the only facility in the area that can treat/rehabilitate wild animals. So I walked home with the bird in the box, as it didnt fight or fuss, it knew I was trying to help or it had just given up. However, the bird did not make the drive. Additionally I was unable to even get to PAWS in time as the traffic was horrendous leaving at 3:30 from downtown (and only getting as far as Lynnwood by 5 in which the clinic closes). I'm not writing to for people to praise what I tried to do nor critique what I should have done better; but to offer my sincerest thanks and condolences to the woman who helped me around 2:30ish in CapHill today. And, if anything I hope people can take from this story a drive to help injured animals you might see, to push our state government to add more facilities and fund them to help our wildlife as we could use more of these wildlife vets in the area. Like for real, why is the nearest vet in Snohomish. The gull who watched as I walked home. I'm still crying thinking I could have done more.

This year so far, we've already served 1,700 people. That's an increase of 33% over 2025. We also have an almost 2,000-person wait list for food. Our kitchen in Seattle has the capacity to cook and deliver well over a million meals a year. ~ A kitchen built for a million meals a year, and a 2,000-person line to get into it. Nobody on that list is waiting on the stove.
Since the earthquake last week our dog is being really weird. When we go for walks she just stops and won’t continue. At home she has been strange, pacing, hiding between my ankles, and looks scared. Our neighbor‘s dog is doing similar things. Anyone else’s dog being weird lately?
Are there any daytrip ideas near Seattle that are accessible via public transport where one could get unique fall treats (drinks/foods) in the elements of leaves changing colors, apple harvests, pumpkin patches, etc? Simply having Apple Cider or Pumpkin Pie out in a Fall setting would be nice. Obviously I understand having a car would be best to get out to apple farms, but wondering of any ideas using public transport (bus, light rain, Amtrak, etc)
Hey folks, I've noticed a huge difference in commute infrastructure between Seattle and the Eastside. The Eastside has massive Park & Ride facilities practically everywhere-Eastgate, South Bellevue, Bothell, Kirkland, Kenmore, Redmond, Issaquah, etc. In Seattle, it feels like we barely have any good options by comparison. Why is that? Shouldn't we have more Park & Rides in Seattle too
I'm looking for an artist/designer to work with a group of people to create an image that will be created into a stained glass art piece. We have the stained glass company chosen for the project but we are in search of someone to help create 2-3 designs that can be presented to the larger group to vote on a final design. The final design will then be given to the glass studio artist to finish per the specifications of glass design. Do you have any recommendations?
The owners have defaulted on a $28 million loan. This is just off I-5, next to Ivar's. The lender is currently in talks with developers eyeing a housing project in the site. What do you think of the location? Could a large dense residential development work here?
I crunched the numbers and a revenue neutral Millionaires Tax could have reduced sales tax statewide from 6.5% to 5% (additional city/county taxes is what brings it up to the ~10% we pay at the register). Obviously, the Legislature did not make it revenue neutral, and only did targeted sales tax relief. Here's my question: Would you support a progressive income tax if it was revenue neutral by pairing it with an equal reduction in sales tax? For example, a tax of 9.9% on income over $1 million, a tax of 5% on income between $250k - $1M, and a tax of 2.5% on income between $100k - $250k, with no income tax on income under $100k. I'm making up those numbers and brackets, but I bet that revenue could replace most if not all of the statewide sales tax. The impact of this would be that the middle class would pay less overall state tax and the rich would pay more overall state tax. Would you accept this trade?

Hey Seattle, bi-curious with awful luck on the apps (flakey, and not as interested in all the things as others) so it might take a more nuanced approach. Also bi (vs. gay) as my female bestie probably wants to join...and fwiw, yes, going to go to Pony/Unicorn to start. -cheers
