Hi! I am expanding my writerly events and am planning to host a Seattle Writers Showcase, with several writers reading prose, poetry, etc. like an open mic, but scheduled readers (possibly a few added spots for on-the-spot readers). I want to give it a good name! Something clear and inviting, to attract an audience (of story lovers, book lovers, poets, arts & culture community folk, etc.) I will host it in November/December, possibly January. I might want to consider hosting it as a series, once or twice a year in the future. If you are a reader or writer or a fan of literary arts and fun events, please go to the sub seattlewritersmeet and answer there? (No links to polls allowed here.) Or comment here- that's okay, too. Thank you! I used to go to Rebar on Sunday nights. Friends and I would get in my Dodge, Dart and go to a grocery store on Madison near Vito’s and buy Old English 40oz beverages. We drink beer in the parking lot and then go and dance. It was so fun. This memory came back to me when I listened to Groove is the the Heat by Deeelit.
I have some aluminum scrap reflectors from 2x4 troffer lights that need to be picked up from properties. About 21 in Federal Way and close to 100 in New Castle. DM me if interested.
Did anyone receive a notice about the night construction happening on Avalon Way and 35th Ave? Trying to find out what the hours are and how many nights the noise will be occurring for. I don’t see anything on the SDOT Project and Construction Coordination Map.
Did anyone else see/hear the motorcycle police chase tonight? We first heard a motorcycle absolutely flying by — it sounded like it was easily doing 80–100 mph. A few seconds later, we saw/heard two police vehicles chasing it at what seemed like a similar speed. It happened so fast that we couldn’t really tell what was going on. Did anyone else in the area see or hear it, or know what happened?
On 9/28, I was on the job in Queen Anne around Bhy Kracke Park. At around 11am, you walked by me on the sidewalk. Your dog sniffed my leg and then proceeded to bite my pant leg. Then, they jumped up and bit my arm/elbow, at which point you were able to regain control over them. You were very concerned and asked me if I was okay. I was frazzled and said yes, and then quickly removed myself from the situation. However, this bite broke skin and now i am worried about the potential, though unlikely, chance of rabies. Please PM me if this sounds like it could be you, so you can share your dog’s vaccination records. I just want to potentially save thousands of dollars. Fingers crossed you are lurking on r/Seattle 🤞Everyone else, pleaze smash that like button to save my life.
In 2011–2012, I photographed Occupy communities across the United States, including Seattle. These are some of my photographs from Occupy Seattle. I focused on everyday life: the people, tents, handmade signs, conversations, and shared spaces that made up the camp. Fifteen years later, I’m sharing them as a record of a moment in Seattle’s history. Did you participate or stop by? What do you remember about Occupy Seattle?
Hi neighbors! I am looking to hire a vegetarian cook in Bellevue for 1-2 days a week. Here is what I am looking for: - Primary focus on Indian cuisine. - Comfortable with (or willing to learn) Asian and Western dishes (e.g., tofu stir-fries, noodle dishes). - Experience making high-protein fiber rich vegetarian meals using paneer, tofu, and legumes. - Open-minded and willing to try out new recipes! Please DM me if you know someone who might be interested. Thanks so much!
Apparently animal control freed and released him a few hours later.
PGE is raising our rates now because it has historically failed to invest in clean energy. They choose instead to make money. The Times is really good at burying the lede: "State Attorney General Nick Brown has even asked the UTC to reduce PSE’s guaranteed rate of return for PSE shareholders to be reduced from a requested 10.8% to 8.17% in an effort to control costs... The residents of Washington state don’t get to choose their energy provider." It sounds like a PUD is in order, or else reduce the guaranteed profit for PGE 1% for every percent increase in rates over inflation? With some real accountability, I think they might just come up with better options.
