Inspired by /u/BeachBumWithACamera/ ‘s shot at https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/s/BCqHGN8VBJ I wanted to see how much detail you could get in a comparable shot with the 22x screw-on lens. The vantage point is the “intersection” of Elliot and Blanchard (which does not actually go all the way to Elliot). The first shot is the cropped version. Second shot is an uncropped one - which means you can see the distortion and blur around the edges (fine if you like the surreal “miniature” effect). Third shot is just with the regular phone camera with just pinch-zoom. In mine you can see the knobs on the hub of the Great Wheel, but in the professional-grade shot you can see the notches on the knobs 😯 So depends on how much detail you want for how much cost. The screw-on lens was part of a kit from Andoer that cost $60 and included other lenses; there are cheaper ones online that I haven’t tried. Highly recommend getting a screw-on lens, not a clip-on (the “clips” slide all over the place and ruin your shot), and for the screw-on lens you need a phone case with threaded holes (about another $15).

Hello everyone! I’m graduating in April with a Ph.D. in urban planning. I study maritime geography and have GIS skills and experience researching ports as part of my dissertation. If you know of any jobs at the Port of Seattle or Tacoma that need an urban port planner with waterfront planning, mapping, transportation, and sustainable land-use expertise, please reach out. Thanks!

Just moved to West Seattle from downtown two months ago and our utilities are much more than we expected. Is this normal? I’m not used to seeing 3 separate sewer charges. Do you guys also get billed for Sewer, Sewer 7 and Sewer capacity at the same time? For context, it’s an apartment building in Avalon Way, two bedroom, two bathrooms, and only two people living here. I assume this is not individually metered. Our previous apartment also wasn’t, but still, it’s almost 4 times what we used to pay before ($60/month).

I bought myself a ticket to see Jim Gaffigan tomorrow night! I'm proud of myself for actually deciding that not only was it okay to go alone that it was okay to get myself a good seat! And some good laughs will be great!

Anyone know who is blowing an old timey train whistle at the waterfront? Pretty sure it's not Burlington Northern. 🚂
