WAISN, an immigrant rights group that staffs deportation hotlines and connects immigrants to aid organizations around the state, laid off around half of its staff on Wednesday, and cut hours and benefits for others amid a "severe funding shortfall," according to current and former workers. This most recent round of layoffs came after WAISN refused to recognize the immigrant rights organizers and call center operator's union, bringing this year's layoffs to 18 people. The organization will cut hours for the WAISN Deportation Defense Hotline from 12 hours a day to peak hours only, 7 a.m. through 2 p.m. A current worker, who declined to give their name out of fear of retaliation, said Wednesday that the center got one hundred calls per day before the cutbacks. They said community members have complained for months that nobody picks up. ~ A group funded by pro-labor organizations would not recognize its own workers' union, and the phone that warns families about ICE now goes dark at 2 p.m.

Hi everyone, I lost my wallet on the 40 tonight about 30 minutes ago, sat in the first row of seats to the left of the back door. I got off at Leary and 15th and realized it wasn't on me. It's a black leather dickies wallet and should also be with a gold US bank card that wasn't in the wallet but also slipped out. There's no ID in the wallet but the initials on the cards are M.G. PLEASE if you see it pick it up for me and DM me! Edit: I will give a reward to whoever returns it!
Let's talk groceries! This post probably belongs in r/frugal , but it would be great to trade tips with folks who live here in our local HCOL market. Please share any tips, sources, pitfalls, for keeping grocery bills in check in this city. I'll get the Costco plug out of the way. With a household size of 2, we don't get produce from Costco, can't consume it in bulk fast enough, but certainly proteins, dry goods, paper products. The $5 rotisserie chicken is a lifestyle. Several meals worth of meat and then I'll convert the carcass into stock for soup. What do ya'll got?
Is it possible to reduce the intensity of yellow light strip on the top of the building facing east in the night ?. This is my view from my apartment. It requires me to have blackout curtains to support sleep but that comes with sacrifice of my morning sunlight waking up. Too much to ask but why not ask ??. Its a decor light but few notches down good for everyone :)
Currently thinking I'll do Sushi Kashiba. Great place, easy walking distance from Umi Sake, where I had planned to start. However... it is kind of a bigger birthday. I'm open to traveling within...say three hours. Is there anything nearby (Portland, Vancouver) that is worth the drive?
Anyone know of one that is out of commission and needs a new home? Image for reference. Emailed the Seattle Times but even those real estate/auto brochure stands will do.

Seattle, Redmond, Renton, Bellevue area-ish? I'm unemployed right now and looking to get into the car show communities. Been an enthusiast since a baby. I'm a healthcare worker looking to make connections as well!
No preparation and no breaks, continuous walk nonstop which I feel was ideal cuz if I had sat down I would've got cramps im guessing! This was my First time walking this much distance - SLU, waterfront, discovery park, Ballard locks, Fremont. I'm used to medium/hard hikes so this wasn't terrible but I have 0 running history, 0 desire to ever get into running so this was fun! I should mention I did have a few drinks last night and am going to a birthday party later for more alcohol, what a way to cure a hangover :)
The one and only time we ever stayed at Cama was New Years 2022 in cabin 36. Our oldest was only 4 and the pandemic was still raging which meant her Head Start class was remote and we did it from the table in front of the window on a blustery January morning. This was our first time back and it's really sad to see all the empty cabins but we are thankful we had the chance to stay before they were shuttered.
