Hey neighbors! For the past couple weeks I've been wanting to throw together a new book club meeting on Saturdays, as other local book clubs never quite align with my schedule 😅 So beginning next weekend we'll be starting with Paul Kingsnorth's Against the Machine: On the Unmaking of Humanity, at the Lakewood Bookstore on Saturday 10/10 at 4pm. This is a first meeting to gauge interest and get a feel for what genres, times, and venues may work best going forward, so please feel free to join even if you haven't made it through this month's book in time! Until we've had the opportunity to explore the group's collective interests, I'm just throwing out a few of my to-be-reads as future book options. I really enjoy psychedelic and/or ecological horror, classic sci-fi (especially with politically-forward themes), and non-fiction explorations/critiques of technology, culture, and capitalism. If you're interested in joining in, you're so welcome! Please do send me a quick message if you plan to attend - I've never hosted anything like this before and want to make sure we have a reasonable head count to be respectful of the space. Thanks everyone!

Just walking home this morning and some guy was masturbating across the street it just disturbed me. He stared at me for a while and then ran away so I didn’t really call the police but what about filing a report after or am I wasting my time?
Will there be ushers and ticket gate workers at Lumen Field and Climate Pledge and T mobile Park. Seattle is a tech giant and my prediction is within 5 to 10 years these side gig jobs for seniors and students will be gone. Machines and robots will be in place of what you use to see. The same person at every game every gate will be a robot in a machine with one supervisor at a few posts checking on things. The highest min wage in the nation will sport teams owners reach out to AI companies for relief, we can't have 25 dollar an hour usher and gate ticket workers. Its unstainable, and we all know it.
I think I might be asking for too much here and if that’s the case I will pivot. But I’m looking to celebrate a big life event with 13 family members, including 2 kids aged 7 & 9. I’m the only vegetarian in the group, but plenty of the adults are picky eaters and I noticed En Rama and Wooden City both do a set menu for large groups. I’d prefer somewhere on the fancier side but I recognize the kids might limit that — they’re just excited to celebrate with me and I would love to have them if possible.
I haven't been since my age was in the single digits. Wanted to come up this weekend for a pizza and a beach walk, but I've been hearing very mixed, borderline unfavorable things about the locations. Already know the Fremont spot had its staff, and therefore atmosphere, gutted (employees drinking on the job), so I might dodge that spot, but are the other three remaining spots still any good?
interested in some hands on stuff like woodworking, carpentry, mosaics, stained glass windows, etc. but im also curious about any and all hands on classes/groups in the city you’ve enjoyed.

hi! i do not drive but i do go into seattle at times to see friends and go to concerts. i usually have someone drive me or come with me places but i don’t anymore. i have taken the bus up to seattle but never back home. when i go to concerts i worry i wont be able to get home from seattle to tacoma/lakewood area. the transits seem to stop running pretty early in the evening but maybe not? i’ve seen a night bus but i dont understand how any of it works. concerts typically end past midnight and sometimes im out in seattle at 2am so im wondering if there is any way i could get home that late from Seattle or if i should just not bother going. thanks!
