My friend lived in a subsidized/low-income apartment in Seattle from around 2017–2021. He got the apartment through a caseworker program for young adults. He had $0 rent because he had no income and just had to submit yearly paperwork. In early 2021, he left Seattle for a couple months because of a family emergency. He did not move out and all his belongings remained in the apartment. While he was gone, the caseworkers contacted him because they thought he had moved out. He specifically told them he had not moved out and was only temporarily away . Despite this, they decided he had abandoned the apartment, entered the unit, removed all his belongings, put them in trash bags, and held them for him to pick up. There was no eviction court case or eviction notice that he’s aware of. Losing the apartment caused him years of housing problems, and we’re wondering whether this was potentially an unlawful termination. Does anyone know: Can a subsidized housing provider declare abandonment after the tenant explicitly says they haven’t moved out? Does the fact that all his belongings were still there matter? Does having $0 rent affect Washington’s abandonment rules? Is it worth talking to a Seattle tenant/housing attorney about this even though it happened in 2021?
Wife and I are going to Seattle late January. Browsing through Reddit I’ve got that it’s going to be cold and wet. We will be there for Gracie abrams (wife’s idea) and only for a weekend. Fly in, two full days, fly out. Day one I’m planning like market, visit first star bucks, space needle (even if it’s foggy) then the show. I want to stay close to climate pledge so we can walk back to our hotel. Day two is what I’m trying to figure out. I want to do mt rainier national park. So here is my question. Being from Texas where 4 hours one way is a day trip. How possible is doing a mt rainier day trip, in January? Don’t want to do major hikes but I just want to see it. Maybe do a few stops like reflection lake. Other simple spots to see the mountain.
I just moved to this nice city and am looking to meet like minded locals Dm me if interested
Me and a girlfriend will arrive on Saturday morning and plant to spend a whole day there before we head out to the national parks on Sunday morning. What are some must see/must-do's (pikes place market is already on list) for Saturday? Would love to get out for a nice bar top at night with a fantastic view as well! Thank y'all!
I’ve seen videos online of people reading to shelter dogs. I’d love to do something like this. Does anyone know of a shelter in Seattle that allows adults to visit and read to their dogs? Thank you

I didn't have reliable or quality dental care for the first ~35 years of my life, and have genetically very soft teeth. This has resulted in a ton of extractions, root canals, fillings, shame, and pain. Fortunately, major issues are resolved at this point, so my main needs are cleaning and the occasional filling or filling replacement. My previous dentist (Dr. Higgins at Dental Care Seattle - LOVE U GIRL!!!!!!) was SO good at encouraging holistic solutions and only suggesting procedures that would notably improve my quality of life and oral health. I am a state employee so I will be able to pick from the above options, but my top priority is finding a really good dentist who will not shame me for the state of my teeth (whatever state that may be), and who works holistically with long-term goals in mind. Does this sound like any dentists you know? Thanks!
I know this is a niche and specific question but if you've ever been there, do you have an approximate guess or info about the seat width?
We're looking at buying a house that has not been well taken care of externally (weirdly, internal looks good, which also gives me pause!). I'm no expert but it wouldn't shock me if a painting company recommended just redoing siding for the whole house. This would likely include framing work around windows. It's a 2 story with basement craftsman in Seattle proper (about 2700 square feet) and a long set of wooden steps up to a decent sized front porch. Anyone had a similar project done recently? We would be looking to use long lasting materials but would not feel like we had to go fancy if that makes sense, ie, we want to pay for quality where it matters for longevity. I am thinking $50K but not sure if that optimistic. Edit: really only interested in hearing from folks who have undertook a similar project recently or who work in the industry and see bids like this regularly.
