Does anyone have a favorite third-space / hangout / coffee shop with a chill/quiet atmosphere? I usually like Ebony&Ivory, Curran, Wren’s Nest but looking to switch it up a bit! Doesn’t have to be food/coffee! I know sheworks is new but looking for something besides that!

hello to the lovely people of auburn! i’m in a bit of predicament and need to help someone i work with find new homes for their 2 cats. they’re both males and neutered, recently vaccinated (have the paperwork from that vet visit and previous), and both very sweet cats. i’ve currently been keeping one at my home but i’m at my limit of cats since i own 4 myself and keeping them would put me at 6 otherwise i would. so i’m turning to the people of reddit and hopefully one of you guys is looking for a new friend! i have pictures of both of them. they don’t need to be kept together since they aren’t bonded and one of them (lucas) would honestly do best being a single cat in the home. the other one is a lot more outgoing and willing to try new things (for a cat lol). both are very affectionate and talkative boys who need a loving home. i can send pictures upon request.
"KENT, Wash. — Police say two people are dead after a drive-by shooting in Kent. South 272nd at the I-5 overpass is closed in both directions until further notice. Please avoid the area. KIRO 7 News has a crew headed to the area to learn more."
Hi all, I am starting a basic look into getting an EMT certification with a long term goal of becoming a firefighter. I am hoping to find something closer to West Seattle but not really finding much online. I currently work evenings downtown from 3pm-Midnight and am hoping to find a place that offers morning classes. The closest place I have found is Tacoma Community College, but from what I've read I'd need to be enrolled. I'm hoping I'm not out of luck. If anybody has any info on any place that is closer, doesn't require enrollment at a college or really anything that might help my search I'd really appreciate it.
Hi everyone! Reminder that the first meeting of a group reading through Marx's Capital is tomorrow evening 6pm in the Snug at Doyle's. We may adjust the time of day or day of the week for the meetings thereafter, but if you're interested in participating or hanging out and listening in, please stop by!
Reminder to drivers on when to stop for a school bus. If you see unpredictable kids or parents, please stop regardless of what is in the law to keep everyone safe.
Anything helps! It’s our first year here and we would like to do what we can!
My wife and I (F28 & F27) currently live in the Olympia area and are moving to Tacoma, and I feel like every time we mention it, we get some version of “Be careful, Tacoma is dangerous” or “make sure you REALLY research the neighborhood.” I’m trying to figure out how seriously to take those warnings. I’ve visited Tacoma multiple times, stayed over night in different neighborhoods, and never have felt unsafe. For context, we’re originally from Houston and lived in Austin for about 8 years before moving to Washington. We’re pretty accustomed to living in larger cities where crime exists, neighborhoods can change pretty drastically within a few blocks, you pay attention to your surroundings, etc. We’ve both lived/spent time in areas that other people would probably describe as “unsafe,” so I think our perception of what constitutes a dangerous area may be a little different from someone who has mostly lived in smaller cities/suburbs. That’s why I’m curious to hear from people who have actually lived in Tacoma, especially anyone who has also lived in larger cities elsewhere. When people say Tacoma is dangerous, are we talking about normal bigger-city problems/crime that might feel especially significant compared to Olympia or other smaller WA cities? Or are there genuinely parts of Tacoma where you feel the level/type of crime is noticeably different from what you’d expect in cities like Houston or Austin? I’m definitely not trying to dismiss anyone’s experiences or pretend crime isn’t a consideration. I’m more wondering whether I’m taking the warnings too lightly because my baseline for “city living” is different. Basically: If I’m comfortable living in Houston/Austin and understand normal city precautions, is there anything about Tacoma that should genuinely give me pause? Or is this mostly a matter of choosing the right neighborhood and having normal city awareness?
My small home airport in CA just started offering direct flights to Seattle and I want to go for a weekend trip in a couple weeks. Locals and lovers of Seattle- in a couple sentences, tell me what you consider to be Seattle’s personality or what makes it special. Yes, I could Google to get a feel for it but I want to hear from actual humans who adore this place.
Hello fellow West-Seattleites. This is a long shot, I know. I'm looking for a good quality dirndl to wear for an Oktoberfest event in two weeks. I'd rather not buy a last minute cheap, polyester, costumey getup, so if anyone in the area has a nice one that they wouldn't mind loaning out, I would love you forever! I will of course get it professionally cleaned afterwards and willing to pay you. I'm looking for anything around a 38 EU/6 US or 40 EU/8 US. My chest is 36", and I'm sure there's some variation in sizing out there. Hit me up if interested or maybe share a photo of the dress in this thread? Thank you!
