Which cafes in the Ballard/Fremont area: 1) Serve coffee in ceramic mugs (not paper cups) 2) Don't have metal seats (uncomfortable) 3) Have plentiful seating - like at least 7 tables So far I know of Valentinas Cafe (stopped in today - excellent Mexican mocha latte and strawberry matcha, and it's pretty inside) and Freya Cafe at the Nordic Museum.

I am not a handyman, nor a homeowner, nor a woodworker etc. and I have no idea where to go or what to ask for… I bought a stand for a new tank. Turns out the tank isn’t exactly the standard size so the ‘wood product’ (MDF?) top is 1/2” too short on one side. I need like a 1/2” slab of some kind of wood that can be cut to 1/4” - if not 1/8” - precision and be easily stained/sealed or whatever to deal with incidental moisture and ideally look kinda similar to the existing top I’d just rest it on (it’s a 50 gallon tank weighing ~600 pounds so it doesn’t really need to be screwed down or anything, it’s not going anywhere). I don’t know if this is a weird or complicated ask or where to go for it. I’m in Ballard but willing to travel anywhere in city limits.

Found this male dog running with another dog (appeared to be a white or yellow Husky) along 164th. The other dog would not let anyone close to it and ran off, this one however jumped in my neighbor's car and she brought it to me. I've tried to call the Everett Animal shelter to take it there but they have not called me back yet. If anyone knows this dog let me know. Although it has a collar and a shirt, there are no tags to identify it's name or owner.

My wife and I just moved to the area fairly recently and are looking for a board game group to join. We have some various games that we would bring as well and up for learning new kinds. We haven’t done a lot of the more “in-depth” board games, but willing to learn!

Recently I noticed the soju is listed as $15 on sale for $6. That’s not a fucking sale. Thats a normal price. $16 is absolutely crazy. I hate this “sale” bullshit when I’ve never seen it not on sale and the “”””sale”””” is not cheap. Obviously I just went to a random Asian market and found some for $5 but I’m still annoyed. QFC is closer but they’re just so awful in every other regard

I’m an international student from China. However, many people said I speak like a native, and I know it’s not totally flattering cuz some of them actually tried to teach me Chinese. As a computer science student, I may just stay in my home for the whole day sometimes so I wonder how to really use my speaking skills? Not just interviewing cuz it’s just about repeating my backgrounds over and over again.

Popped into Mox for five minutes and immediately stumbled upon the ultimate social justice final boss: pride flag dice categorized by hyper-specific gender & sexual identities, and an RPG book complete with a staff endorsement to play as a group of "Disaster Gays who band together to take on oppressive toxic powers as well as their own complicated feelings for eachother". I’m pretty sure opening this book automatically grants your character +2 to calling out systemic privilege, advantage on saving throws against microaggressions, and a bonus action for "melodramatic roleplay". Truly peak Seattle--where before you can even swing a broadsword, the party has to pause for a pre-combat safety briefing and a mandatory consent check-in.

Hey everyone, looking for some advice from anyone who has dealt with cross-border car situations. I’m currently in Seattle, and I brought my Canadian-registered car with me. The car is financed and still has an active lien on it back in Canada. My plans have changed, and I’m now looking to sell the vehicle, but I’m completely stuck on how the logistics actually work. Can I trade it into a dealership or sell it to a private buyer here in Washington while it still has a Canadian loan, or does the bank block that? If anyone has gone through this, what is the actual process? Do I have to pay off the entire Canadian loan before a US buyer or dealership can even touch it? Is it possible to do the US customs/import paperwork while the car is already physically sitting here in Seattle? Or am I better off just driving it back across the border into BC to sell it there? Would love to hear how anyone else managed to get out of a Canadian car loan while living down here. Thanks

Yesterday, a friend and I were doing a free cold-weather clothing exchange at Cal Anderson with her kid. We later realized there was also a mutual-aid event happening on the other side of the park, which we hadn’t known about. I took him toward the playground and passed two women arguing. One woman was using a rollator and was saying something about Black women and Jehovah’s Witnesses “letting people die.” I couldn’t hear every word, but it immediately felt strange because I’m Black and was raised Jehovah’s Witness. (I'm not a minister anymore I was forced to, to be able to live with my aunt who also blocked me from getting a job or escaping a long time.) The other woman had colorful hair and hipster-style glasses and was telling her to leave Black people alone. She said the woman with the rollator had already approached multiple Black people around the park. As soon as I realized what was happening, I quietly tried to detour with the kid: But the woman with the rollator started yelling at me, and the other woman began yelling back at her. The woman with the rollator looked like she might follow us, so I hurried up the stairs (as fast as I can with a cane, at least) toward the playground. She stayed behind, continuing to yell. It was incredibly jarring. I’ve never had a stranger suddenly direct that kind of hostility toward me in public before. Later, while I was telling my friend what happened, a woman who had apparently overheard me came over and apologized. She was unhoused and had two kids with her. I told her it was okay and offered her some of the clean, new-with-tags clothing my friend and I were giving away. I’m still trying to process the whole thing. Has anyone else encountered this woman around Cal Anderson recently, or witnessed what happened? I got to see some ducks tho. It made my brain happy and sparkle. The sun was really nice that day. I'm just grateful she wasn't more mobile than my own crippled ass, and that she didn't seem physically violent. Just loud and a little weird.
