Does anyone know of a reason PSE would be leavening all the facilities security lights on 7/24 at the Todd Road training facility. Attempts to reach a facility manager have been to no avail. PSE could turn the parking lot lights off during the day and save some energy. This does not sit well with me in lieu of PSE's pending major rate increase.

I've been wanting to move to Seattle for years and I am finally going to do it. I have a job right now and money saved up, but I am not going to move until I secure a job in Seattle (or remote). I've visited enough to know that I love it there. I'll look for an apartment once I know when I'll be moving, but I know I'd like to live in Fremont if possible. I am also open to other neighborhoods if anyone has recommendations for places I might like that are similar. Is there anything I should know before moving? Thanks!

*Reposting due to this being taken down initially* Hello! I'm starting a regular group that will meet on Tuesdays for discount movies at local theaters (SIFF Uptown, Downtown, Majestic Bay, etc.) We'll meet for food and drinks before or after the movie, depending on showtimes. No commitment, no cost (except for what you purchase.) Our first meeting will be 10/6 for Primetime at SIFF Uptown. Find us on the Luma app to RSVP

Zahilay's announcement touted an estimated $2.5 million per year in savings due to fewer staffing and administrative costs if the district gets assumed. But that figure remains contested, with KCTD chair Claudia Balducci citing a much lower figure. [...] "Staff did go through the numbers and made an estimate that, with the leanest possible operations, it would cost about $650,000 a year to operate the KCTD as an independent entity with its own legal services, its own accounting services, paying for some staff time, managing meetings, the sort of administrative work that the district would need to do to be independent." Just this week, the council's budget committee received a briefing that confirmed that Metro's sales tax revenues are expected to fall an additional $125 million short through 2031, largely due to adjustments to sales tax exemptions included in the new statewide tax on incomes over $1 million. ~ A majority signed on August 25. The first hearing is October 20. What gets decided in between is who writes the next transit tax measure and who checks how the money gets spent.

Some suggestions for action! Another video is going viral about the 3TP beach access so I thought I’d provide some advice for those who are passionate about this issue: Show up and give public comment (or via zoom!) there is a council meeting Monday: https://www.burienwa.gov/city\_hall/city\_council/city\_council\_meeting\_access Make a clear ask (to the right people) and provide a way for the council to get in touch with you. It does not make sense to direct all of this to the mayor- all 7 members of city council can be reached with one email at [email protected] - the mayor is selected from among the council to facilitate meetings but is not an executive in Burien, that’s the city manager! Read up on this- it’s been an issue for a while: https://b-townblog.com/three-tree-point-beach-cabanas-unlawful-if-unpermitted-city-of-burien-says/ Understand how action can be taken in our city with a weak mayor system- ask the council to vote on an action, the mayor cannot order something to be done unilaterally. Showing up at city hall to talk to the mayor shows you don’t know how our government works: she doesn’t work there! Please have some perspective on the relative urgency and feasibility of what you’re asking! Imagining this is an easy fix that won’t involve lawsuits doesn’t make you a credible advocate! Consider learning about other major coalitions organizing in our city- residents opposing the North of NERA Rezone or those organizing against ICE have urgent, time-sensitive goals we are working towards. That isn’t to say wait your turn, only to say it might build your coalition to work with these groups and coordinate so you’re not shouting each other down. Change takes time, organization, and collaboration!

Does anyone have any experience / insight with mental health supports for teens? I am outside the US myself. My husband’s nephew has reached out to me. He is asking for help. Doesn’t want mom involved and I think that’s valid. Dad is absent. Nobody at school either. I told him being 16 that shouldn’t be an issue unless there’s imminent harm. I see some referral lines through Seattle Children Hospital and Snohomish County. Would this be a good place to start? I have no idea about costs/insurance. They are on temporary assistance for needy families. I really want to point him in the right direction immediately.
