Anyone hear the gunshots? I didn’t hear a car or anything after. Nothing at all, maybe two guns going back and forth and then nothing.

After the question about the Southwest Plumbing commercial was raised, it put me in mind of goofy local ads. I’m not sure if anyone remembers the rug company who used a gimmick that they were having a closing sale for years until the state had to step in and make them stop. This earned them a parody segment on Almost Live. https://youtu.be/T0q1i2mqMgs?is=Gn\_iHJBkCCP64w7M So what was your favorite ridiculous local ad?
I’ll be going to a concert at Showbox and will need to walk to the light rail after to catch the train. Am I correct in assuming that there will be others doing the same? I’ll be solo woman , and am a little worried about it. I’ve had a scary experience so I’m a little hesitant tbh.
I'll preface this by saying I moved to Seattle nine years ago after living in several other US cities and working in broadcast media. As a result, I spend a lot of my time watching and listening to commercials. These days, it's more of a hobby than a work requirement. There is an ongoing TV campaign for a home improvement company that I cannot, for the life of me, understand. I can only believe that, having not lived in Seattle for a lifetime, I just don't have the context to understand why it is effective. Or desired, even. The basic premise of all the commercials is a male/female couple talking about some aspect of their lives. About 7-10 seconds in, a truck for the advertised company rolls into the frame so only one of the participants can see it. As the truck rolls into the frame, the owner's face (giving a hearty wave) rolls through the frame. The person in the conversation who sees the face on the truck goes through a moment of visible, internal struggle before feeling compelled to address it with a hearty "Heeey Bill!" to the other person's chagrin. The jingle plays, and we fade to black. I don't get it. Who is the face on the trucks? I mean, aside from being the company owner. Why would people feel compelled to break out of an established conversation to wave at a truck? Is he a former sports figure? Did he do something extraordinary for the community that made him recognizable and beloved? Has some version of this commercial been on the air for decades, and the creative agency just can't quit it? Is the owner someone with a huge ego? Commercials air in all the cities I have lived in that require some added "insider" knowledge to get the joke or the appeal. You can usually decipher them with a quick online search. This one escapes me. Any insight into this ad campaign would be appreciated.
(apologies in advance if the format is weird... i designed this for instagram... you can view the as intended christopher nolan viewing experience on there - @bunkerartscollective) this was a fun one!! stay tuned for ways to get involved... im gettin my shit together 😤 -------------------------------- We're excited to share our first-ever Refresh Everett recipient: Wai Eng, owner of Sub Shop #26 located at 2017 19th St, Everett, WA 98201! After visiting the "Sub Man" in the summer of 2025, we noticed his sign was rotting and offered to redo it free of charge. Evan cut the sign, Jen painted the veggies, and Mackenzie helped us finish it up. Beyond replacing the sign, we got to learn quite a bit about Wai and the positive impact he has had on Everett. We feel it is only fitting that he is our very first recipient. Refresh Everett features free small-business support paired with paid artist opportunities. This initiative not only shows that Everett is a city worth investing in, but also demonstrates that our local artists are hungry and ready to get to work! Please consider paying Wai a visit the next time you're on Broadway! 🥪 (And don't forget to bring cash!) bunkerartscollective.org
I received a postcard in the mail about this. More info in the link provided.
Big back looking for more fried chicken recommendations: Joe's Burger in Totem Lake- I guess they put loads of cornstarch because the crunch is amazing. No place to sit Chicko Chicken in Bridle Trails- this place churns out double-fried chicken like a factory. Very consistent and predictable. Sauce never tasted quite right to me Yeon's Chicken (RIP)- this place used to be the best before it closed Meh: Hangry Joe, Zip Dak (but the staff at both of these places are very friendly)

In July of 2020 I was in a situationship with a boy (we were both 19). He was a UW student and a member of the Chi Sci fraternity. I found out from one of his friends that he had filmed me while we were intimate without my knowledge. His friend had the video and sent it to me because he wanted to let me know that this guy (the one I was seeing and his friend) had sent it in a Snapchat group chat to him and about 20 other friends/fraternity brothers. I still have the video. I never did anything with it or anything about it at the time, I think cause I was young, naive, and scared, and I just let it slide. But it’s affected me since and I still think about it all the time, how that video of me is still out there. With all the news about the Cornell 7, I’m thinking about it even more. Now I just feel so mad and feel like I have the strength and anger that I didn’t have at 19 (I’m 26 now and still have only told this to a couple of very close friends). Is it too late for me to do anything about this now? Does this warrant me turning this situation into something? Now that I’ve grown and matured I just can’t stand the idea that this a**hole just got away with what he did and has been living life to the fullest ever since. Help, I don’t know what to do, I’m just so angry.
Grand opening was Friday October 9 2026. Located on Gilman. How is the wait and parking?
