Looking for a new artist for some upcoming projects, any recs are appreciated! I really vibe with vibrant colors and illustrative styles. Artists who love doing florals would be a plus. My next project will either be two constellations or a Persephone portrait so if that matches anyone’s vibe, that would be awesome!

Hi everyone! I’m planning my move to Seattle in the spring time and I need as much advice as I can get on finding a job from out of state. I’m moving from California alone and I don’t know anyone in Seattle. I want to land a secure job before applying to apartments. Looking for architecture/ design jobs.

Walked to the bus stop in Ballard this morning and had to step into the street three separate times because people had parked their garbage, recycling and compost bins directly across the sidewalk. Not next to it. Not leaving a little gap. Just three giant plastic carts lined up like they were guarding the entrance to a nightclub. At one house there was actually a perfectly good planting strip between the sidewalk and the curb. The bins were on the sidewalk anyway. I watched a guy pushing a stroller reach the same spot, stop, look at the bins, look at the parked cars, and then awkwardly maneuver around everything. And I realized how ridiculous this is. We spend endless amounts of time arguing about bike lanes, pedestrian safety, walkability, transit access and how much space cars should get. Meanwhile, on garbage day, apparently the pedestrian infrastructure can just be temporarily reassigned to plastic containers. I understand that the trucks need access. I understand that some streets have almost no room between parked cars and the sidewalk. I'm not suggesting people keep their trash in the kitchen until the garbage truck personally knocks on their door. But surely "a person should be able to walk down the sidewalk without entering traffic" is a reasonable minimum standard? Especially when you consider wheelchairs, walkers, strollers or anyone who can't casually step off a curb and squeeze between parked cars. The best part is that some of these bins will still be sitting there tomorrow, long after they've been emptied. Apparently the sidewalk is their permanent residence now. I checked Seattle Public Utilities' instructions afterward. They explicitly say not to block sidewalks. So this isn't even some complicated debate about what the rules should be. It's already in the instructions. Is this just my part of Ballard, or have we collectively decided that garbage bins get pedestrian right-of-way?

Seattle mention: Stymied by political and financial hurdles, progressive bastions including Los Angeles, Seattle and Burlington, Vt., appear to have given up . They have surrendered public spaces to the homeless and their encampments to the point that it’s difficult to describe these spaces as truly for the public anymore. Damning.

So I tried to walk in and place an order tonight because as usual they weren’t picking up the phone. CRAZY ass experience. The moment I got there I pulled up and one of the employees, might have been a manager was SCREAMING at some poor lady who seemed confused about her order. She seemed to be very nice and even said in a low calming tone “ok can we please just have a conversation instead of you yelling at me”. I went inside. As usual the phone was ringing. Took about 3 minutes for the employees to stop yelling at each other to notice me. The female employee at the front looks at me, picks up the phone, looks away, presses the answer button, and the 3 seconds later decides to hang up. Why you may ask? So she can turn around and start a yelling match between 2 other employees. I finally get her attention to see how long it will be to get a to go order. She says 35 minutes. Then goes straight back to yelling at the two other employees. Turns out the entire reason they’re not picking up the phone is because they’re choosing to fight with each other instead. Not because they’re getting too many calls. So I walked out. Ordered online to pick up at bang bar and enjoyed it. I’ll never go back to Ruksa. Such unprofessional behavior and it’s really impacting their customers. I can’t fathom why so many people have given them good reviews online, except to think maybe they’re paying for fake reviews. I’m done. Don’t care if I get downvoted to hell. Fuck em.
