CLAIMED I got sick and my buddy can’t go either so if anyone wants to see Ken Pomeroy (opener) and then Iron and Wine, the seats are up for grabs. The show is at 8 PM tonight at the 5th avenue theater. They‘re in the mezzanine section row M. Pretty good view.

I thought it would be easy to find the name of the law firm that represented several people in a suit brought against the city and who was able to get them a settlement, but haven't found this to be so. I believe one if not all of the recipients may have signed NDAs, but that shouldn't preclude anyone from knowing which law firm handled the case. Tried the King County Bar, for starters, but haven't gotten any response back yet. Haven't found the information in any news stories, either, which seems weird. Going to try the state bar association, too, but thought it would have been simpler going through the King County bar; oh well...
At California Ave & Oregon St in West Seattle, on the wall of Chase Bank, there is a mural of a teacher with a class full of students and the message “TODAY IS BANK DAY” written on the chalkboard. It was painted around 1990 by Alan Wylie, and then restored by muralist Bob Henry (not the “Henry” murals guy, that’s Ryan Henry Ward ) in 2020. ( Here is a picture from 2019 showing the mural start to fade before the restoration.) “BANK DAY” refers to a thrift-teaching custom in American schools in the 1920s , in which students would bring cash to school, the staff would collect it, and it would be deposited in the student’s name in a real account with the local bank. In the mural, the teacher’s name “Miss Chilberg” is written on the blackboard. I couldn’t find any source explicitly confirming that’s based on a real person (and the muralist doesn’t seem to have a public artist page, otherwise I would have asked him), but members of the prominent Chilberg family moved to Seattle in the 1800s . Googling “chilberg” “seattle” “teacher” led to https://www.seattletimes.com/pacific-nw-magazine/upheaval-on-spring-street-ca-1909/ (paywalled) which says: “In 1908, the Chilbergs, with their daughter, Mabel, a teacher at Seattle High School, left their pioneer corner and moved farther up the hill.” So it seems likely that that’s her. She was also the sister of the most prominent Chilberg at the time, John Edward Chilberg , who was president of the 1909 Alaska–Yukon–Pacific Exposition . And that guy’s grandson was John Edward Chillberg II , who was the art director for Star Trek III . Thank you for your service Mabel!

I like sharing my adventures of Seattle on film photography. Taken with a Holga FN 120, Lomography 400 film.
Some lovely folks and I attempted to contain the goose this morning, and once it got properly cornered, it finally flew. After weeks of no one seeing it flying, we were relieved to see this! It appears to have no injury. I spoke to PAWS (wildlife rescue), and they said the goose is probably not moving on because it’s being fed. While it’s a kind-hearted gesture, it sounds like it’s harmful to the goose in the long run because it needs the motivation to move on and rejoin the flock. I’ll head up to the park later to leave a sign / note to this effect. If you know who put the food out, please ask them to remove it! PAWS said if the goose is still there in a couple weeks, we should attempt to catch it again. If it lingers too long it will miss its chance to migrate and rejoin the flock and will likely die. I’m hoping if it stops getting fed it will move on! Thank you to everyone who offered advice and offered to help, and especially [ u/Technical _Sock_85]( u/Technical_Sock_85 ) and husband for showing up to find the goose this morning. Really heartening to ask for help and get it!
I heard they throw down with almost the entire neighborhood getting in on the action - offering candy, super decorated houses, themes, etc. Can anyone vouch for this? Thanks!

My toddler aged daughter has peanut and tree nut allergies. We live in Tacoma and our current clinic doesn’t offer any oral immunotherapy treatment. They recommended we reach out to some Seattle clinics. After some perusing, it seems like all of them have terrible reviews and long wait times. Do any of you have experiences with OIT in Seattle? Any recommendations?
My Optum dr just retired, and I have retinal issues. Any suggestions? Thanks!
