Remember may not have liking the sauce for some reason? Teriyaki madness forgot the rating but liked it a lot Teriyaki Plus Kirkland 9.2 Any I must not miss? I have on my list to go to 1. Ta Joia 2. Midori (garlic sauce all that they say?) 3 Okinawa Also if I want the best of the best 1. Katsu 2. Short rib Any places are a standout for katsu and short rib specifically? Thanks

I recently posted an essay here about my sister Liffy, who died in 2020 at forty-three after years of addiction. A lot of you read it, and some of you wrote to me about your own families. This is the essay I wrote next, and it's about Seattle. Late-stage addiction takes away a person's ability to act for themselves, and this city has built its whole response around waiting for that person to ask for help. Most of them never ask. You can walk Third Avenue or Twelfth and Jackson any day of the week and see what that waiting looks like. When someone's mother has Alzheimer's, the family steps in and everybody understands why. I watched addiction do the same thing to my sister, and I think people that far gone are owed the same care. We spend the most and we save the fewest. San Francisco and California have started changing course, and I go through what they're doing and what Seattle could do if it wanted to.

Went to Sake Sushi on N 26th last night for dinner. New people, new chef and was remodeled. Looked it up and the mother daughter duo sold it in March. We will miss the original owners. They were great. 😊 The food was still good.

Visiting Seattle for the first time in early December and have narrowed my hotel choice down to Hotel 1000 (1st & Madison) and The Sound Hotel (4th & Lenora). Planning to see the major attractions including Pike Place Market, the waterfront, Space Needle/Seattle Center, and a Seahawks game at Lumen Field. I’ll also have a rental car for hiking and exploring outside the city, but while in Seattle I’d prefer to leave the car parked and walk to sightseeing, restaurants, coffee, etc. as much as possible. The Sound is about $250 cheaper for the stay , has a larger room, and seems better positioned for the Space Needle/Seattle Center. Hotel 1000 seems better positioned for the waterfront, Pioneer Square, and Lumen Field. For people familiar with these exact areas, which hotel would you consider to have the better overall location for a first trip to Seattle? Is Hotel 1000’s location meaningfully better enough to justify paying about $250 more, or would you stay at The Sound and save the money? Mainly looking for opinions on these two locations rather than additional hotel recommendations.

Hi all, I’m juggling a couple of job offers that will allow me to stay on the east coast (Boston) or move out west (Seattle). I’ve never been to the west coast. From a lot of accounts, it sounds like a promised land. I’ve recently come out of a long term relationship that was particularly devastating and I feel like I need a change in my life. A bit about me - I’m 27, gay, love nature and animals, and like being active and outdoor recreation. Where I’m at, near Boston, there’s nature for sure - but probably not as grand or expansive out west. I work in tech and I’m career-focused. I’m also very keen on making friends, finding a new boyfriend, and planting roots somewhere (I moved from Miami, FL to New England 4 years ago). Even though I’ve moved before, thinking of moving again is both exhausting and exciting. I want to make sure I’m doing it for the right reasons. I guess what I’m asking is: has anyone else been in my situation, made the move, and had it change their life for the better?
