So many local spots are dying. Locust has left, but another cider place has shut down. Unicorn is getting sold, and McMinamins is consistently running at a loss. First off, what is the cause of this? Why aren't residents in the financial position to buy from these businesses? Almost like half our paychecks go to rent, and the rest go to groceries... What the fuck is our city leadership doing about this, besides sleepwalking into decline?

Hi! I just moved to seattle and I’m in need of a cut and highlight touch-up desperately to remove some weight. I have extremely thick hair that is kinda long so finding a hair stylist who can work with it is really challenging. I was hoping to book my service through one person so they can cut some length off before coloring to make the service easier for them. In the past salons usually work best so the stylist can lighten my hair while assistants can take out over processed foils.

My 22 year old niece is in town and I want to find some places where she can shop to find something she wouldn’t find in her Midwest city. Any recommendations in the Seattle area?
They're at it again. A local Bellevue auto shop is attempting to monopolize the city street parking on a little dead end adjacent to their shop and behind the 124th St post office. It has become a de-facto parking lot for their wrecks, employee and company vehicles. In spite of a 2 hour limit, which city parking enforcement apparantly chooses to ignore. It happens to be a convenient place to park for post office customers who prefer to turn North onto 124th after exiting. Can't do that from the post office proper as it is signed one way only (South). Now, if Bellevue is OK with quit-claiming that stupid little stub of road to the repair shop, I guess that's their business. But ... the reason that road exists is that the cities 24 inch water main runs under it. And has since before the reconfiguration of Bellevue-Redmond Road some decades ago. If the business wants to pay to have the pipe relocated, fine. But should we be "donating" a piece of public property to them?
