I am a little bit desperate so please bear with me 🥲 I am currently pregnant with my first and the only tradition I’ve had personally for myself throughout my childhood was Simply Desserts white chocolate strawberry cake for every birthday. Not only am I craving it, I am so badly wanting to have it at my baby shower around the corner and continue the tradition for my own child. Well, I took a few years with no cake and then when I recently made the trip up north from Olympia I received the news 😭 they’re gone 😭 I went as far as trying to contact the previous business owner on their new business page to try and recover the recipe but it’s been months and I’m thinking I’m out of luck trying that way. I guess I am just wondering if I’m lucky enough that any former employees or bakers from simply desserts may request this sub and might be willing to help me 🥲 I would be forever grateful for any leads, memories of the cake, or even a point in the right direction. I’m just really hoping to be able to share this little piece of my childhood with my baby. 🤍

In 2024, SDOT was forced to negotiate with the Pioneer Square Preservation Board over a two-block protected bike connection along Yesler Way between Occidental Avenue and Western Avenue, the only direct bike lane planned between the waterfront and central downtown. An initial presentation noted construction could have started as soon as July of that year, but the department was forced to come back for a second meeting in the fall, after potential issues were raised about driver access to I-5 from the neighborhood. In the end, the connection did not go in until early 2026, and with a last-minute adjustment to retain a potentially dangerous left turn in response to "community feedback." The committee approved a raft of amendments before a final vote, tweaks needed in part due to the package's rushed process to get advanced before the council's fall budget work. ~ Two years of hearings for two blocks of bike lane on Yesler. The crash numbers didn't wait for the paperwork.
Moving to Seattle in two days and I need to put together a desktop. Is it worth checking out local stores for deals, or do people here just order everything online? Any shops worth a trip, and are there sales worth timing around? Thanks.
I recently moved into the neighborhood, and there is a group of people who gather nearly every night to just blast music out the backs of their cars. It's not the bar crowd, it's not Chop Suey. It's literally just a bunch of people who open every door of their car to blast insanely loud music. I've called the non-emergency hotline of SPD multiple times but they're obviously useless. Inb4 anyone says "just go talk to them," no, I'm not about to go alone at 1am to talk to a large group of strangers who obviously don't care about those around them.
A way to go that can only be used by pedestrians or cyclists to either bypass traffic or find a more direct route between parts of the city?
Looking to rent a space for expended couples counciling in Tacoma. Dark and Moody preferred.
Anyone know of artists doing a flash tattoo event this weekend in Seattle? I’m itching for some new ink.
Someone made these and put them in the little libraries in Bitterlake. Whoever did this: thank you
About two months ago I came across an account on Seattle hinge where the audio was a man explaining what he is looking for. His answer was joy. I have been on the apps since a long term relationship ended 11 months ago. This voice memo is one that really stuck with me. I don’t remember the name, just the voice. He lives within 3 miles of Ballard. I doubt this post will go anywhere. I don’t feel desperate, just hopeful. If you’ve been in my situation at some point or another, could you check in with your guy friends to see if they have this voice memo on their profile? I’d like to get coffee or go for a stroll around Greenlake. Sincerely, A joyful hopeful girl on hinge
We are moving back after 4 years in London. It’s a sound, rationale move - we have a baby under 1, so it will be great to have some family close by, look to buy a house, etc etc. But I am emotionally struggling to come to terms with the decision. I love life in London. For starters it’s incredibly baby friendly with things to do (baby cinema, sensory classes, swimming, mum & baby comedy, I could go on and on). There are also many mom communities which is bigger here because of generous maternity leave policies. Additionally, it’s the overall freedom to get places without a car, it’s the ability to find coffee shops all walking distance, pub culture and pints outside at 5pm, safety (compared to Seattle), run & tennis social clubs. I feel like a full person here in London. Having lived in Seattle before (and not being from there), I found it way harder to find and build community. Anyone else gone through the same move and how was the adjustment?
