I lived in Seattle for 6 years, leaving in 2000. It was one of the most special times of my life and Seattle is really the only place I ever lived that felt like home. Work and family took me away but I will also admit that, being a Floridian by birth, the weather in Seattle got to me over those 6 years. It was really tough not seeing sun for long stretches. So, has the weather changed all that substantially in the past quarter century? I know it certainly gets hotter in the summer, but is the solid grey and drizzle still a constant the rest of the year? You all have got a really special city and I'd like to think I'll return someday.

Issaquah, saw kid doing wheelies on Gilman, then he turned off to the auto parts store. I pull into Taco bell to get my mobile order, and then he drives right in front of me not even looking in this direction. You can see only after he stopped that he registered the honk and car sitting right there. No pedals and no awareness. Kids are saying "he's just a kid" or "Let kids have fun" but how much fun is the ambulance or hearse?
Hey guys! I'm trying to find a good place to go to look for piano sheet music and music books in the greater Tacoma area. I'm sick of buying piano books online and not being able to tell if they're the right difficulty or not. I enjoy classical and contemporary so I'd love a place that has both. Bonus if the store also has violin sheet music. Thanks all.
So like it says I’ll be moving to Seattle soon, hopefully within a week or so actually. To be frank without trauma dumping I’m in a tough spot, I’m homeless in Kentucky but a friend who works for a Seattle based charity group is helping me get here, she’s gonna help me get set up with help, stay at a hostel while working on stuff, all that good jazz. Already this is a huge upgrade from living in motels in a state where I’m basically fucked so I’m looking forward to it but I am curious if any locals have tips for a lesbian trans woman moving to the city hoping to find some community again and all? I’m not a super high maintenance type, I’m in my mid 30s so not really super looking for the club scene but a nice chill bar would be great. I’m a giant nerd so knowing where good comic and book stores are would be nice, same for any good tabletop/board game stores. Theater also has always been a love of mine so knowing where to see a good show when I’m settled would be great. But yea I guess I’m just asking for a general bit of help, what neighborhoods are affordable and friendly, places that are reliable to find work, any general tips for getting around. I’m sure my friend can help me with this too so I’m not literally alone but it never hurts to ask for more advice right?
Hi all! If you're looking to find a welcoming group of folks who like to get together, hang out, and play games, this is your once-a-month reminder that we get together at Dystopian Brewing * most Thursdays, including this one (9/17), at 6pm! IMPORTANT NOTE: NEXT Thursday (9/24), we will be at Dickey's BBQ on 6th , then resume our regularly scheduled programming. Basically, what happens? Members of the community bring their own games. We share them, our only ask is that you try to respect them and try to put them back where you got them :) Any big games usually start between 6-7 since that makes it substantially more likely we'll finish them, but other new games start throughout the night. Whenever one game wraps up, people will shuffle around to find another. It's a great way to meet new people (I moved here two years ago and have made many new friends through this group!) and in my opinion it is a diverse and affirming crowd, we try very hard to welcome newcomers, and if you're feeling shy don't feel bad messaging me! I can help you find a group to start in with and introduce you; it's totally fine! I'm a smallish redhead and I'll probably be in a cat shirt. You can't miss me. ---- Some FAQs: Food? The space allows you to bring your own food in. Please be kind and clean up any mess. Nonalcoholic options? Yes, they carry NA beers and some sodas! Minors? Not explicitly disallowed, I believe the space allows minors. However, we don't shy away from adult topics in our conversations and you may wish to attend without a minor first to evaluate suitability. Ages? Most of us are late 20's and up. We're primarily people in our 30s but we have a large age range and I am not going to guess at the age of our oldest members :P Type of games : There's no snobbishness here, play what you like. Anything from light party games to mid-heavy-weights (we still gotta finish before they close at 10). Want to play word games and just drink and hang out? You can! Want to play something that hurts your brain, and swap to something else every week? You can! And you can definitely find people to set up longer games with on the weekends, if that's your jam. How often? I'll probably post monthly, but this happens weekly ; the only times we've skipped in recent memory have been when Thursday was Thanksgiving or Christmas!
I’m looking for someone to do a custom piece ,it’s going to hold my tools. Something like but a few things changed about it. If anyone knows someone who can do it. Lmk
Hey y’all, I’m sorry if this is posted constantly, but my partner and I are looking to move back to Washington(I am from Eastern Washington but we live out of state). We also have an 8 year old. Thank you in advance! Edit: my apologies for not including things, I don’t know how to Reddit very well. I’m not afraid of any of the neighborhoods and I’m not trying to find some ultra safe utopian neighborhood, I just haven’t lived in Washington in so long idk what’s been changing there, for better or for worse. I’m not conservative chud and I should have worded my post better, my apologies. Budget cap for rent only is 4200, prefer 3400 to 3800. I commuted from Tacoma to Seattle for a couple years and that was an absolute nightmare so as we’d all be working downtown, we’d prefer a fair commute, I’d say less than 45 minutes by car, we’re also open to biking and public transportation. We don’t have a set place of work in any area of Seattle, so living situation is really open anywhere.
We’re getting married next Saturday but we kind of decided last minute we should probably do a rehearsal dinner on the Thursday before. We’re probably thinking like 20 people max, and we just want a space where we can all talk that’s like not too loud and not like TOO fancy. We’d prefer a place that’s not single check for large parties but I know that’s pretty industry standard so it’s not a deal breaker. Any tips appreciated! Edit: I should say, probably not Mexican food only because we’re having Tonala cater our wedding 2 days later lol
Looking at Jin’s in Bellevue and Issaquah but probably won’t be able to afford to live there. Questions: Anyone know of affordable housing in that area? Anyone know of affordable housing within about half an hour drive? Prefer to go more north or south than east into the city (Redmond, Kirkland, Bothell or Renton). Are those areas safe, especially Renton). Anyone know of resources for finding housing, especially small or private landlords? Most of what I see online is big complexes. I’ve looked at Zillow, Redfin, and joined a facebook group. Thanks! Edited to add - looking for a 1 bedroom that allows cats, hoping to stay under $1800 if at all possible.
Hello! I have done a lot of research over the past year since we decided to move to WA from Alaska, and picked Puyallup. I have been to the greater Seattle area many times, and I go about 5 times a year for school. I have never been to Puyallup, though. So we are going to go for an extended school trip there at the end of October to get a feel for the area and look at potential houses to buy. Since we will be there for Halloween, I’m looking for a place to take my toddler and baby trick or treating. I will be checking out the Knudson pumpkin farm as well, and Farm 12. Open to suggestions for family friendly activities and restaurants in the area. Thank you in advance! We will be there from October 24-November 2.
