Good afternoon, it's Monday and I forgot. Council meeting tonight! Lots of important stuff on the agenda - Youth Council member appointments, proposed general budget overview, Hispanic Heritage Month proclamation and it looks like this meeting is expected to run long. There are public comments at this meeting as well - in person, online or written all accepted. You can watch online, attend in person or watch later in the archive. Tomorrow is a finance committee meeting too! Agenda - default

I'm planning on relocating to the Seattle area, and I am looking for the best healthcare system (i.e., Swedish, Overlake, UW, etc.) that has the best specialists (Cardio, Endocrinologist, Gastro, etc.) that are affiliated with any of these systems. Besides Top Docs, what is another source or your personal experience?

Hi! I’m looking at replacing the fuel pump in my 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport. Subaru quoted me around $1,200 for the replacement. I was hoping someone might have some advice on where to get other quotes in the area, or if this price is typical for a fuel pump replacement. Thanks!

In August, the Department of Revenue estimated the tax passed this year would bring in $3.1 billion during the first fiscal year it takes effect and $8.3 billion between 2029 and 2031. [...] Technically, the initiative would only repeal the tax itself, not the tax breaks and rebates in the legislation, meaning lawmakers would have to decide if and how they could fund the new and expanded state programs with billions less in revenue. Let's Go Washington, a Political Action Committee sponsoring all three initiatives on the November ballot, has raised an additional $3.65 million, with Hughes again contributing $250,000 and PAC founder Brian Heywood contributing $605,000. ~ Repeal takes out the revenue and leaves the tax breaks standing. Whoever writes the next budget gets to explain which programs eat the difference.

Is there someone with a pickup truck or big van available this evening to help a student out get a queen bed frame and mattress from Front Street S and drop off at 7th Ave NW?! Tools might be needed to dissemble the bed. If you’re available, let me know how much you charge for the service?? Thank you so much!!!

Had a parking ticket go to collections. Found out when I couldn’t get new tabs. Well now collections is paid, has been for months, but the court still shows an unpaid ticket when I go to pay my tabs. I’ve verified with collections that the court knows I’ve paid, but I cannot get ahold of the court at all to check what’s going on. They’ve kicked me off hold so many times, I have to go back to work tomorrow so I can keep this persistence up. TLDR, can I go into the court and find someone to speak with about a parking ticket issue? If so, what location/counter? TYIA

I wasn’t sure what flair to use, r/tacoma took my post down because they’re annoying lmfao, here it is. Hello everyone, happy Monday. I have been losing sleep over this one. On Saturday night, I was coming out of the crumbl on 23rd st, next to the target. A nice handsome man, 26, stopped me and asked for my number. I, stupidly, did not check the number before we left the scene. It was the wrong number 😭 It could be that he was being mean and messing with me, but it really didn’t seem that way. Your name is Alberto, I texted the number you put in my phone but was told it was the wrong number. You also have a green car. DM me if this sounds like you haha, wish me luck. ETA: Alberto gave me HIS number, but typed it in incorrectly in my phone. Just wanted to clear that up

About six months ago, I was laid off from a large tech company where I worked as a Software Engineer. Since then, I’ve been trying to expand my job search beyond platforms like Wellfound, Ramp, LinkedIn, Indeed, and Welcome to the Jungle and connect with recruiting agencies here in Seattle. However, most of the recruiting agencies I’ve come across seem to specialize in warehouse or sales roles. Does anyone have recommendations for reputable recruiting agencies in Seattle that specialize in software engineering or other tech roles? I’d also love to hear from anyone who has worked with larger recruiting firms like TEKsystems or Randstad. How did you get your foot in the door? I uploaded my resume to both about two months ago but haven’t heard anything back. Any recommendations or advice on how to get connected with the right recruiters would be greatly appreciated!

Last Thursday, thirty-eight of Seattle's business leaders, Brad Smith of Microsoft, Brian Niccol of Starbucks, Ron Vachris of Costco, Erik Nordstrom and others, sent the mayor an emergency letter demanding a public safety plan in a hundred days. What they were really demanding is that Seattle finally take on the drug economy and the addiction crisis that feeds it. The letter never uses those words. Every item on it is about them. They want foot patrols in Little Saigon, where the pills are sold, and officers at 911 calls in seven minutes, because the retail theft downtown is what pays for the pills. They want the open-air markets shut down, since that is where the stolen goods get traded for fentanyl, and the tents out of the parks, since that is where a lot of the customers sleep. Fentanyl is the product. Theft and robbery are the working capital. Cars and guns are the equipment. And the boys are the labor. Six weeks before the letter, my son was standing in the crowd at the Bite of Seattle when a fifteen-year-old with "1 SHOT, 1 KILL" engraved on his pistol opened fire. How does a boy get there? In 1985 I was a fifth grader at the Bush School, staring through a chain-link fence at the kids of Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary. That same year the University of Washington started following 808 Seattle fifth graders, my age exactly, into their thirties. What they found explains a lot about that boy, and about the city we have now. Two boys in the same crowd. Two sides of a fence.

I'm trying to find venues that could host a Warhammer 40K tabletop game. Games can take a while so it's not something I could really do at a coffee shop or bar. I've played events at Midgard Comics but I've been left with a bad impression after they charged me to use their tables. I could always host at home, but I've been trying to start up a 40K group and would like to find a common area to play at, hopefully without needing to drive to Tacoma for every game (that said, Terracrux is a pretty solid backup)
