I’ve been looking at alternatives to regular dog daycare and like the idea of my dog spending the day on a farm/private acreage, running around outdoors instead of being at a daycare in the city. I found a few places outside Seattle, but none seem to offer pickup from my part of Seattle. Driving out and back twice obviously makes it difficult. Has anyone found a place that does pickup/drop-off in Seattle? Or do people actually drive their dogs out to these places? Also curious about experiences with farm/outdoor daycare in general. Did your dog like it? Anything you’d worry about compared with regular daycare? Would love recommendations if anyone has them.

I’m having a neighborhood barbecue this weekend and I’ve been having a bit of an ethical crisis about it. There are about 15 unhoused neighbors staying in the nearby encampment, and I keep thinking, well, they’re our neighbors too. It feels kind of uncomfortable to have a community barbecue while excluding people who are literally part of the community. I really want to create an inclusive, welcoming, trauma-informed space where everyone feels seen, valued, and included. But I also have some concerns. Sometimes we see people using drugs, hunched over, there are needles around, and a couple of people have been using the bushes as a bathroom, which has made the area smell pretty intense. I don’t want to stigmatize anyone or contribute to harmful narratives about homelessness, though. I know everyone has their own story and lived experience. I was even thinking about discreetly offering Narcan at the barbecue as a small harm-reduction gesture. I just don’t want anyone to feel singled out or othered, so maybe I could put it in a little basket next to the veggie burgers? Then there’s the food issue. I bought enough for the people I invited, and adding 15 more people is a pretty significant resource-allocation challenge. But maybe thinking about food as a scarce individual resource is itself part of the problem. I’m honestly trying to be intentional here. Do I personally invite everyone from the encampment? Is that the most inclusive option? Do I need to consider accessibility? Should I have a quiet space? Gender-neutral bathroom signage? Naloxone? A community resource table? Maybe a land acknowledgment before we start grilling? At what point does a neighborhood barbecue stop being a barbecue and become a grassroots mutual-aid initiative? I really don’t want this to become political. I just want to make sure I’m not reproducing systems of exclusion through hamburgers. Would you invite your unhoused neighbors?
Tens of thousands of Washingtonians have stopped paying for their car tabs , creating a massive wave of vehicle registration non-compliance across the state. This widespread defiance directly followed the Washington State Supreme Court's decision to strike down Initiative 976 , a voter-approved ballot measure that would have capped annual car tab fees at a flat $30 . [ 1 , 2 , 3 ] Why Drivers Stopped Paying The Court Overruled the Cap: In 2019, 53% of Washington voters approved Initiative 976 to lower car tabs. However, local governments and transit agencies sued. The Washington Supreme Court ultimately ruled the initiative unconstitutional, stating it violated the state’s "single-subject" rule and featured a misleading ballot title. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 ] Massive Cost Differences: Without the $30 cap, vehicle registration fees remained very high. Due to a unique state formula tied to Sound Transit taxes, older vehicles are assessed at an inflated value. This causes registration bills to regularly range from several hundred to over a thousand dollars for a single vehicle. [ 1 , 2 ] Voter Backlash: Proponents of the measure, including activist Tim Eyman, publicly encouraged drivers to protest the court's decision by refusing to pay the full fees. Many residents felt the state consistently ignored their democratic choices, as voters have passed $30 car tab initiatives multiple times over the decades only to have them blocked or circumvented. [ 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ] The Impact The sharp decline in registration compliance has created what economists call a "Laffer Curve" effect: as the tax burden increases, compliance drops so sharply that tax collection suffers. Reports indicated that over 600,000 Washington residents were driving with expired tabs. Many drivers openly admit they would rather risk a standard traffic ticket than shell out hundreds of dollars for a sticker. [ 1 ] In response, state lawmakers have proposed stricter penalties and heavier fines to crack down on the thousands of drivers operating unregistered vehicles. [ 1 , 2 ]
Please someone dm with bar recommendations first time in Seattle.
Hi, I recently moved to Seattle and am looking for a board-certified witch doctor to establish as my primary care provider. Preferably male. Please let me know if anybody has recommendations! Thanks in advance!
I’ve been thinking on going to a concert this upcoming weekend, problem is it’s all the way in Tacoma Dome while I’m in the North Seattle area. Fortunately I have a car but I won’t appreciate paying for venue parking which I’m assuming could be $50-$100 (estimating prices from Climate Pledge parking garages/lots during events). If it was on Climate Pledge, taking the 1 Line then Monorail would be easy but I’m not sure on how to get there easily. Of course there’s always the 2+ hours of straight public transportation but is there a better alternative? For people that commute in the area, is there a transit centre parking lot/garage I can park in near Tacoma Dome then take a bus or train to get to Tacoma Dome? If not, how much is parking near the Tacoma Dome area? Any tips on cheap lots if I was forced to take the car there? Thank you for the help!
Hi, I recently moved to Seattle and am looking for a white, board-certified doctor to establish as my primary care provider. Preferably male. Please let me know if anybody has recommendations! Thanks in advance!
Hey there! I am new to Tacoma (recently started college out here) and I was what nearby places have line dancing, or country swing dancing, and if any of them have anything akin to a family night when those under 21 can come and dance? Thank you so much in advance!

In search of a more communal approach to childcare as a newly single parent. Seattle area- with its Montessori's and playgrounds located approximately every twenty feet- seems like it would be an easy place to find childcare co-ops or families/parents interested in a childcare exchange type of arrangement. I'm just not sure where to start looking. Any recommendations? (Or other parents looking for the same thing?)
