They have started towing all cars parked on the street. The sign “No parking from Oct 7 8am-4pm for street sweeping” has been there visibly for like a week now, so this isn’t an I wasn’t aware situation. If this is your car, the tow truck just literally drove off as of this posting. If you’re parked along this street still, I suggest moving your car already as they will come for your car and have started the sweeping also. Edit to add: about 3 or so more tow trucks just arrived

I have a middle school aged child who is interested in art and dance. I know there are many dance places to try but all of them are very expensive. Is there any rec style dance around here? Something that is more drop in style than year long commitment? Art, I know schack does have classes, but they are some serious money. Is there any independent artists that teach classes, or if I can get a couple families together we could pay someone to just teach some basic techniques. I am willing to travel to find these kinds of programs.

Living on the West Coast for awhile now, and Seattle for the past 3 years, the economic balance between whites and blacks seems to be an extreme gap, up and down i5. Definitely a culture shock for us, in the Deep South, the economic gap between whites and blacks isn’t this wide. It’s much more of an even playing field in the south. It’s quite noticeable, but if you don’t pay much attention to blacks then obviously you’ve never realized and don’t care, but where I’m from, all I see is blacks, literally everywhere, doing as well, economically, as whites.

I'm looking to get some elvish (LotR) on my ring finger, so very high risk area with thin lettering tattoo. I'm near the everett area, but I can travel if needed. Obviously closer is better.

I recently received a notice of traffic infraction, and while I'm tempted to just pay it, I believe I have a good case to contest it. That said, I could just be wasting my time if the court has a bias to to the city. It's also a pain in that it appears that any contest needs to be argued in person. While I don't want to get into the weeds of the details here, I was caught on camera entering a bus lane. However, the video also shows that all relevant traffic signs were obscured at the time. The road marking were also not visible. According to Washington’s RCW 46.61.050(2): “No provision of this chapter for which official traffic control devices are required shall be enforced against an alleged violator if at the time and place of the alleged violation an official device is not in proper position and sufficiently legible or visible to be seen by an ordinarily observant person .”

Yesterday at about 2 I was waiting to cross 2nd and pike with my 14 mo old and nearly 3 year old daughter when a car came up in the right of way. I froze. She was inches from me and I couldn’t move. I’m misty writing this now. It was so fast. You are either an angel or some kind of super hero because you moved like you saw it all coming. You (gently somehow???) pushed my daughter towards me and put your body between her and the car (I think you got hit??). You immediately apologized to us and said “I’m so sorry sweetheart, I didn’t want you to get hurt!” And then to me “that’s enough excitement a for a day-are you alright?” You said it was “reflex”, that you were a mom. Then you apologized TO ME for being so “awkward” because you said you were southern (I could hear hah) and hadn’t been in Seattle long enough to stop smiling at people - or jumping in front of cars for strangers’ kids I guess!!! I don’t want to think about what would have happened if you weren’t there. You were all kindness and compassion, zero judgement and just wanted my daughter safe. I’m full tears now. Even as you left us you made sure we were smiling and calm. She said you looked like Ariel because of your hair. I was in shock, I don’t even know if I thanked you enough. I don’t know what would be enough. I think you said you were coming from court? I know it ruined your shoes and I hope you are okay!!! (Yes I asked internet!!) I don’t know how you did that in a dress. Or at all. I just want to say, we could use more people like you and I hope Seattle is as kind to you as you were to us yesterday. Thank you, sincerely. Alright internet, do your thing!
