nem both died about a month ago, a familiar phenomenon followed the national outpouring of sadness, grief and loving tributes. Within days of their passing, the beloved feminist icons were being critiqued by some on the left for not being outspoken enough on certain topics. Some said Parton did not speak out enough on race or other progressive causes.Steinem was criticized as a white feminist who was a champion and apologist for the CIA. But as those critiques started to gain traction online a funny thing happened. People pushed back . ****\ * I have never respected belief systems that demand unquestioning fealty to a one truth, whether it is in politics or religion. I have much more respect for arenas where people with a multiplicity of perspectives can weigh the pros and cons of an approach to come to the best solution — no matter who came up with it. If I am on a boat heading toward an iceberg, I want people to feel safe to say we are going the wrong direction without fear of social expulsion. ****\ * I, too, hope we are emerging into an era where we allow that multiple things can be true at once. Where we release ourselves and each other from the impossible expectation of perfection or rightness. I think if we were able to do that, we would find it easier to see humanity in each other, find common cause and get closer to the progress we seek.

To the two gentleman who helped me rescue my dog who jumped over a retaining wall and landed 10-15 feet down in blackberry bushes on Sunday by the Seahawks Training Facility - THANK YOU IS NOT ENOUGH! You spent 30-45min of a beautiful Sunday afternoon scaling a chain link fence, beat down blackberry bushes risking getting cut up yourself, walked all over the “hazardous waste” private property to find an exit point, and then finally took apart a chain link fence to help us all escape - you are the good of our community, Don’t change. Continue to pay it forward, I definitely will based on your kindness and willingness to help.
Does anyone know if something happened at SeaTac this evening? my mom was flying in and said that when she got off her flight they had stopped everyone at D gates, had tons of security personnel out, and had sectioned it off due to a “security issue”.. they eventually let everyone leave but she was a little freaked out. Just curious if anyone heard anything.
Hi again, you all were super helpful last spring, so I thought I would ask for recommendations here. We are traveling to Seattle tomorrow (child having outpatient surgery), and my son is obsessed with Halloween. We live in the frozen north and Halloween is always ice and snow. We also missed the only haunted house that our local area has to offer. Are there any local haunted houses that would be going on this week, or other Halloween related activities? My son is almost 13, but he has intellectual disability, among other disabilities, so things for younger kids are OK as well. We’ll be back again for a few days around the 21st, so if you know anything around that time, please let me know!
Coming back from Kingston, heading to Edmonds. I was able to get this photo. Made me real happy, wanted to share. I hope everyone treats the ferry workers well and they get all the money and recognition and resources they deserve. What a wonderful thing to have in our region. It truly is something to hold in high regard and have a great respect for.

Picture from today at Kingston looking back towards Edmonds with the eerie sound fog, hinting that continuance of the Edm-King run will no longer be available to play. I'm never getting back to Seattle 💔
Our two bikes were stolen from our apartment building's bike room in Marymoor village :( 2024 Trek Verve 3 Lowstep, silver, size Medium 2024 Trek Verve 3 Lowstep, silver, size Large, with a Thule toddler seat mounted on the front. It has a rear rack and mudguards too If you see either of them listed on Marketplace/OfferUp/Craigslist, locked up somewhere, or abandoned, please DM me. A screenshot would be helpful! The large one was how we rode with our toddler, so we'd really love to get it back. Thanks for keeping an eye out!
Old man yelling at clouds moment because this might just be a west coast thing but why do Seattle people walk UP YOUR ASS. Multiple times a week I’ll have people walking so close to me they’re almost stepping on my heels, carrying on a loud conversation like I’m not even there. Everywhere else I’ve lived (midwest, south and NE) people either pass or slow down - is this some type of passive aggressive challenge? It’s maddening
