I just wanted to put the word out there for my hair dresser Nigel at BabaLouise in Ballard, next to Mainstay Provisions. He is down to earth, fun to talk to and great at his job. I had multiple other hairdressers tell me that what I wanted would take many sessions and be impossible, and he did it in one visit without damaging my hair. He has always also been honest if there is something he can’t do, which I appreciate so much. If you are looking for someone new, I highly recommend Nigel.

Years ago, I visited my grandma who had a Hallmark Channel made-for-TV movie on in the background and I heard a scene where one of the characters suddenly started ranting about how angry he was that the Burke-Gilman Trail Missing Link was still unfinished. I've been trying to figure out the name of this movie for years and honestly wasn't totally sure if I really saw it or just dreamed / misheard it. But yesterday I realized you can stream Hallmark movies for free through the library and finally tracked it down!!! Love to the Rescue (2019) The scene where they first mention the Burke Gilman Trail starts around 26:50 and the part where he starts complaining about the missing link is at 29:30. Finding this scene was not easy. I remembered it was a cheesy rom com about a couple who meet cute when they both want to adopt the same dog. What I didn't count on is that at least a dozen Hallmark movies have essentially this exact same plot. Slogging through all this treacle was painful, but worth it. The Burke Gilman Trail is part of a sub plot about the guy being unhappy with his job at the department of transportation. They go on a date hiking along the trail (which looks ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like Seattle) when he starts going off about the missing link: "For 20 years we've been trying to find a safe way to close a gap on this trail, and we finally found a solution that was going to work for everyone but that Marina is now suing. Yeah, we finally found a solution that works for everyone but the Marina is suing because they don't want to lose parking spots... And people keep telling me be patient, we'll figure it out. But people are getting hurt and it's making me crazy!" (Yes, he really does say the exact same sentence twice in a row.) I only skimmed the rest using the skip ahead button, so I'm not sure if it comes up again but as far as I could tell it does not and this movie does not have a happy ending for urbanists: (#spoileralert & #triggerwarning for YIMBYs) This plot thread is resolved when he quits his job as a transportation planner and goes to work for an affordable housing advocacy group that fights against developers. (😔🪊 womp womp )

Hi! Looking for gluten free options in Seattle and surrounding areas. My friend is gluten free, not celiac but gets tummy issues. My other friend and myself are not. So ideally it has good food with gluten free options. Quick bites, snacks, or sit down. Food just must be #1 taste good # have options for someone who’s gluten free

I know it's unlikely that I'll ever know the story behind this, but it's so odd I have to share. Random chunk of pages from a romance novel found in my mailbox. South Proctor near the Nature Center. Anybody get the rest of the book?

Found this old article ( https://www.theurbanist.org/kirkland-moves-to-add-dedicated-funding-stream-for-safety-projects-but-bikes-mostly-a-side-note/ ) that outlined potential plans to add a protected promenade for pedestrians and cyclists. Since moving to Kirkland a few years ago I’ve enjoyed walking along the waterfront, however whenever I bike along Lake St I am always nervous about getting doored by parked cars. Also biking into the downtown Kirkland zone is always sketchy. Does anyone know more about the city’s plans for bike infrastructure?

My mom's car was stolen last night or early this morning. It's a 2003 Subaru Impreza Wagon. She lives in North Seattle near Nathan Hale High School. If anyone sees this car around Seattle please contact police and reference 26-294959. My mom is 74 and relies on this car to get to work and we will not be able to replace this vehicle so we are praying we get it back. She had a car seat inside, her prescription glasses and other important things that we will struggle to replace. Thank you for reading.
