Demands still the same as during the last rally: https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/s/d98IM2xeEA But UW has not budged on anything yet; their current raise offer is still 0%. The union is picketing, not striking. I asked some of them what is the “ask” of people if they do go on strike, as far as not crossing a picket line - eg are they asking students not to go to class? The people I talked to said they weren’t sure yet but it would be clarified if a strike happens. There was one rally at Red Square, with small groups dispersed among the tables for Dawg Daze (UW student group tabling & recruiting), and another rally of about 70 people at Montlake & Pacific (where the big W is). There was a third rally at Harborview but I didn’t go to that.

I’m talking small spaces, no room to maneuver, terrible traffic in and out. Bonus points if it costs an arm and a leg! Me personally, I hate the U district Trader Joe’s
Well, sort of. The oil tanker Maersk Trieste is fitted with four "suction sails." Each sail is essentially a vertical wing that rotates to point into the wind, and then uses suction fans (located at the top of the sail) to keep the boundary layer of airflow pulled tight against the airfoil thereby increasing the lift coefficient and boosting the ship along. These are different from flettner rotors, the spinning tubes that use the Magnus Effect to create lift. I was getting a bit bored with the offerings of martime traffic lately, so this is a welcome and interesting sight for me. It's always a fun time to snap photos of something special or unusual visiting the Sound!
Would love any insight/feedback on culture and academics. We’re currently considering both as options for our kid to attend in the next few years. (I’ve seen a lot of discussion on this thread about the broader school districts but not so much these two specific schools.)
Hi neighbors! I'm an Eastside dad, and every Friday we'd end up with the same question: what's going on with the kids this weekend? The answer was spread across library calendars, parks departments, farms, churches and random Facebook posts. So I built Eastside Family Calendar . It pulls family events from more than 140 local calendars across 14 cities, from Bellevue and Redmond to Carnation, North Bend and Renton, and puts them in one place. A few things it does: Each city has its own page, plus a "This weekend" page across the whole Eastside Tags for free, indoor/outdoor, toddler-friendly, drop-off and more Seasonal pages for fall and Halloween, Christmas, and spring break A playground map and a farmers market guide Add any event to your calendar in one tap, or subscribe to your city's calendar so new events show up on their own No ads, no sign-up, no tracking you around. Every event links back to the organizer. It's brand new, so I'd really love feedback. If something's wrong or your favorite event is missing, there's a suggest link on every page. Hope it saves someone a Friday night scroll!
I'm trying to find a business that does glitter alcohol bottles, especially on short notice. I already have the bottle I just don't have the expertise or money for all the supplies
I recently stumbled upon a YouTube channel claiming to be run by a commissioner at a hospital in Jefferson County. The videos seem to be a mix of UFO theories, complaints about local hospital policies, promotion of a "Human/AI alliance," commentary on issues surrounding local homeless camps and a bunch of other random stuff. What's up with this? https://preview.redd.it/lc45e8xexwsh1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=fde7a6b9ef09b2f5d3ac00a590d4b70eaaba113e

Lol, I finally realized that my dream haircut that I've been trying to describe is almost exactly P's hair. I've had a haircut that was fairly close to this in the past, but my old stylist was always too afraid to be bolder with the layers. I want to find a new stylist that'll actually give me what I want... Probably a younger one this time, or at least one with younger, kinda alternative sensibilities. Any recommendations? 😭
