Last time I did this I had it recycled at the NW Furniture Bank- but I’ve heard they stopped doing that. I’m pretty sure I could take it to the dump or maybe even the city garbage pickup would get it from the garbage area of my building- but I feel bad throwing it away. I’m sure someone could still use it? Any suggestions for donating or recycling? Or do I just accept that I have to trash it? I don’t have a personal FB account so I’m not in any Buy Nothing groups but if thats the best way I could probably find a friend to help. Thanks in advance.

I understand the old owner retired but it seems like the place has fallen off a cliff. I expect reasonable price increases and understand why they can no longer do the happy hour 50% off deal in our current economy, but I go there now and the store is empty almost all the time, with employees who seem irritated to see me. I usually go later in the day but I don’t remember the last time I saw anything in the deli case sushi related that wasn’t a California roll. No more nigiri or sashimi. Other foods that were abundant before like the chicken karaage now only have a few boxes out if any. I saw someone on yelp say the new owners are the children of the old one who retired and are trying to maximize profit margins or something like that, but surely that cannot explain the complete drop in quality, quantity, and the extreme unreasonable increase in prices for many items even outside the deli? I have always seen uwajimaya as a “premium” or pricier option compared to more recently opened Asian food markets in the area like lams seafood and 99ranch, but some of the prices of items at Maruta that they also sold at uwajimaya left me stumped, particularly in the drink case. Does anyone have any insight or possibly alternatives for places to get affordable sushi in the Seattle area? Their quality for the price was unmatched. Thanks!

I just got out of a 6yr and 1/2 relationship and just need to take a solo trip to regulate my mind. I chose Seattle bc the mixture of City, nature and my favorite the casino lol. I’m planning to stay in downtown. Explore downtown fish market, first Starbucks maybe even check out the Mariners stadium. (I’m sorry about that guys ) Then I would wanna check out the Snoqualmie Casino bc it’s in the middle of the forest. Any spots to go eat or go see? Any hiking trails along the way? I’m from LA and will to go and try anything. How is public transit? Am I better off getting an Uber?

Hi y'all, join us for a meetup this Saturday 10/3, 7pm at 7 Seas! The meetup is a lot like a mixer, just the chance to get together, be social, meet some new people who live in this awesome city we call Tacoma. We're a social group built around making friends and doing fun stuff around Tacoma. We stay connected on WhatsApp, with subgroups for movies, board games, gardening, community service, trivia, all things food, and more. Everyone joined the group the same way, by showing up to a meetup just like this. Most of us are in our 30s, but we have a mix of ages and always welcome new people. Come say hi, and we'll get you added to the group chat! I'm Shelby, I'm 39F and have long blonde hair, I'll be wearing a red t shirt. We'll be in the back by the shuffleboard tables. 7 Seas has beer/cider/wine, as well as some NA options like NA beer, kombucha, and soda. Canteen by Camp Colvos is inside and has burgers and more! Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions, I look forward to seeing those of you who can make it!

[Note, I maintain this is in scope for the sub because it covers "the Puget Sound area" and that is where her Kruse's followers are disproportionately likely to live and where her political influence is strongest; anybody who does politics around Puget Sound knows about her.] Brandi Kruse said on the 9/23 episode of her show, regarding statistics on murders of trans people: "You know, the Human Rights Commission will say that this is like a white supremacy issue. And all of the public-facing stuff that they say, says like, 'This is because of Trump, this is because of conservatives, this is because of the right wing,' but even there own data says this is not true. It says ' Transgender people are less likely to be murdered than the rest of the population, and most transgender people are murdered by members of their own race, and intimate partner violence, not hate .' So the leading identified motive for the killing of trans people is like, another trans person killed them. Or their intimate partner killed them. So it's like, LGBTQ on LGBTQ violence. It's absolutely not right-wing - I mean, if you have right-wingers out there murdering trans people, and there was, you know, 50 of those murders in 2023, I feel like we'd hear a lot of news about that. No, it's trans people killing trans people. And the number's cut in half, so the rate is actually declining in Trump's America. When they say, right now trans people are under attack in Trump's America, it's just not true." The hyperlinked quote is from a paper first put out in March 2026 and which is back in the news again following a Boston Globe article stating that violence against trans people in the U.S. has gone down. The paper was written by conservatives aiming to debug "myths" about anti-trans violence, but even that paper never claims that a majority of trans murders are "trans people killing trans people". As far as I can tell there is no breakdown of perpetrators by sexual orientation or gender identity. However, another paper from 2024 found regarding murders of Black trans women specifically, 75% of the perpetrators were Black cisgender men, and: "To date, media reports suggest cisgender male intimate partners are the primary perpetrators of fatal violence against transgender women, who killed their partners after discovering they were transgender or from fear of others knowing of their relationship." So, the evidence is overwhelmingly against Brandi Kruse's statement that most transgender murder victims are a case of "trans people killing trans people".

This is a major longshot, but here it goes. You were a gem who kept offering his seat to others (myself included), even though you looked like you were in scrubs and had probably been on your feet all day. You got off on that Avalon stop around 5:00pm today. Here’s where things get a little weird (it’s Reddit ok?): I’m not posting for myself, I want to set you up with a gal pal of mine. I’m just a mother hen type. If you are somehow single, on Reddit, see this, and decide to respond to me, I can solemnly promise this is the last time I’ll meddle in y’alls relationship.

The place I was at 3 years ago shut down (Rip Lan Noodles on pine st), I thought their noodles were phenomenal. I've got a pretty bad gluten allergy I'm looking for the best rice noodles Seattle has to offer! Lemme know if you have any solid suggestions, thanks :)
