Do you guys have to run crushed coral on all of your tanks? I lost a bunch of shrimp overnight to a pH crash, presumably cause our water is so soft. I typically run crushed coral in all of my tanks but that can make breeding the lower pH fish kind of difficult. I’m trying to find a balance right now and I’m curious to hear what you all have done.

Yesterday(Sep 25) I went to QFC at U village for some food, I just got here in Seattle and I’m a student so I don’t have a car. I travel there by bus. I forgot to check the weather report before I go😭so eventually I’m all soaked and the worst part is that all my paper bags that filled with food are falling apart because of the rain. So I ran into a nearby Subway store and asked them for some bags, but they only got paper bags too. And I ran into another vape store and thank god they have some plastic bags, both of the subway and vape store workers didn’t charge me a cent, thank you so much. And then I ran to my food and found that they are already rolling out of the bags😂, I put all the things into plastic bags as quickly as possible. All of this happened on the middle of the pavement under a tree so I’m feeling quite embarrassed, so many people were crossing over. AND AT THE VERY MOMENT, when I was struggled to put things into plastic bag bags, I heard someone said “Excuse me, excuse me” and I look around, I saw this beautiful lady in a car, waving to me with a canvas bag in her hand. I went up and she was like “ take this” then I realized that it was not just one bag, but two! I looked at her and looked at the bag, I feel like she must be an angel, there was a holy glow radiated from her, I swear. In Chinese, there’s a saying goes “ 雪中送炭”means “ you saved my bacon”. Direct translation is “send charcoal in the snow". means helping someone when they are in urgent trouble. This lady, SEND BAGS IN THE RAIN, she pretty much saved my life. But she refused me when I want to pay her some money for the bags😭😭I still really want to pay back her. So the person who helped me yesterday, if you saw this, please DM me🥹I’ll give you a Chinese gift 🎁 I brought from China!

Hey all, i used to save up change to visit my favorite barcade where i used to live. when i moved up to Bellevue, i noticed most are run on cards you pay for with debit or credit. For other people who like to grab a drink and game/play pinball, Are there any bars with arcade cabinets, pinball machines/barcades i don't know about that still let you use coins around Bellevue? Or am i just outta luck. Also happy to learn about Seattle locations that let you do this too, thanks.

I was hoping to rally people into posting a comment to help save the beloved Brandon St. Willow Tree in Columbia City. Save the Columbia City Willow - customizable comment template: “I request a public meeting with SDCI about Project #3044460-LU.” At least 50 requests are needed, so every comment counts. “By law, the unit lot subdivision (ULS) plan must prioritize retention of the two existing Tier 2 trees on the lot along S. Brandon St.” Comments MUST refer to the ULS. I will post the link in the comments.

I’ve been googling and can’t find anything. I’m wondering if anyone knows of any walk in acupuncture clinics in the Seattle area - or a place that is known for same day appointments. I have an urgent need - can wait until Sunday, but would prefer today (Saturday). Thank you. 🙏

I noticed a pattern with my carpenter ants: nothing all day, then right around dusk they'd start showing up near the bathroom wall like they were punching in for a shift. Saw a few posts here over the past year about similar carpenter ant issues in the highlands and renton Hill area and wanted to add what I learned. A lot of these houses back up to old douglas fir stumps, which are basically perfect carpenter ant real estate, and the ants forage from the stump into the house in the evening, not the other way around. So people including me, twice keep treating inside the walls during the day and the actual colony outside never gets touched. Had a more thorough inspection done AMPM, if anyone's looking for a name that traced it back to a stump about 30 feet from the house. Treated that instead of just the walls, and the evening parade has actually stopped. Has anyone else around noticed carpenter ants becoming noticeably more active around dusk?

Hi Eastside neighbors — we’re Theatre33, a small independent theatre in Bellevue’s BelRed area, and we wanted to share what we’ve been working on. We’re opening Jeffrey Hatcher’s A Picasso on October 16. The play takes place in occupied Paris in 1941. Pablo Picasso is summoned to meet a German cultural attaché who has three paintings believed to be his. She needs him to authenticate them. It sounds like a simple question: are they real? It doesn’t stay simple for very long. It’s an intimate two-person play that turns into a battle of wit and will over art, power, truth, and what happens when someone else gets to decide the value of your work. We’re especially excited to bring this one to the Eastside because it’s the kind of close-up, actor-driven theatre we love doing at Theatre33. A Picasso runs October 16–25 in Bellevue, with seven performances. If anyone here is interested in theatre, Picasso, art history, WWII history — or just enjoys discovering smaller local arts organizations — we’d love to have you join us. Happy to answer any questions about the production or Theatre33 in the comments.

[from the report] The index ranks 1,000 cities across five measures: governance, economics, human capital, environment and quality of life. Overall rankings New York - 100.0 London - 98.8 Paris - 93.4 Seattle - 92.8 San Francisco - 91.9 Dublin - 91.3 Boston - 90.8 Seattle rankings Economics: 4th Human capital: 47th Quality of life: 22nd Environment: 28th Governance: 198th [the report puts every US city at this rank, for national considerations] Strengths: high income per person, low emissions intensity, large GDP size. Weaknesses: lower income equality, high housing expenditure, higher crime rate Brief summary . Seattle’s economic strength propels it to the fourth spot of our 2026 Global Cities Index. This is largely thanks to the city’s major tech sector—home to both Microsoft and Amazon—which rivals those of any other city in the world. The metro also boasts major players in other industries such as aerospace (Boeing) and is home to major retail headquarters (Starbucks, Costco, and Nordstrom). This range of large employers gives the city one of the highest levels of GDP per person in our index and a healthy economic diversity measure. Seattle’s sizeable tech and aerospace sectors are composed of a highly educated workforce, which facilitates the metro’s commendable Human Capital ranking in the top 10 nationally and top 50 globally...
