Mayor Katie Wilson has announced a plan to add 960 new shelter beds by the end of 2027, revising her initial campaign promise to open 1,000 new beds every year. [...] Instead, the city council initially approved about $17 million for shelter expansion earlier this year, which the mayor's office later built upon to assemble roughly $37 million for the 960-bed plan, largely through restructured funds and savings within the city budget. According to Ellerbrook and Chris Klaeysen, deputy director of the Human Services Department, there was never a single, fully funded line item for 1,000 beds per year. ~ 4,000 beds got promised on the campaign trail. 960 over two years is what survived contact with the budget.
City of Bellevue maintenance truck backed up into landscape grass, left car running for a long time and started a fire. Then went into Trader Joe’s as the fire grew. Luckily a TJ’s employee ran out with an extinguisher.
The draft ILA text for consolidating Everett Transit - Community Transit has arrived. It is well fleshed out and adresses everything that was on that open house approach document last month.
Allegedly this happened in Everett. Fuck ICE. Fuck EPD. ACAB.
Hello - not sure if this is the best place to post, but I’ve been searching for a private cabin/retreat around the Seattle area within a two-hour drive. I’d like it to be private, with lots of natural surroundings, because I will be using it to grieve, meaning I’ll be walking around outside a lot and crying, and I would like not to be bothered or watched. Now, I know I can just search AirBnB and the like, but whenever I click on a property that looks promising, I’ll get to the comments, and a lot of them will say, “It is private, but the owners are constantly outside,” or “Private, but I can see a lot of the neighbors,” or “Private, but it’s right next to the owner’s house.” I keep running into: “Private… BUT …” Ideally, I’m looking for a place that is on some wooded acreage - bonus points if it has access to private trails I can wander around in (the trails don’t have to be extensive or anything). I did find a wonderful place in North Bend a few years back that met all the requirements, but their listing has been set to “Property has been turned off”, and it looks like the last review was from August 2025. If you have any suggestions, please let me know! I simply want to spend Monday taking in nature around the property and feeling at peace while I grieve.
Wondering if any stationery folks (journaling, paper supplies, fountain pens/inks, stickers, supplies, etc) would be interested in a group or meet-up. I've been on and off with this hobby, but fell back into it the last several weeks and trying to see if this is worth starting a local community for.
Bring your pet, a photo, or a memory to the Ballard Pet Celebration and St. Luke’s pet blessing at Ballard Commons Park on Sunday, Oct. 4.
The Ballard Alliance has joined a call for a citywide public safety plan, citing concerns that affect businesses and residents in Ballard.
Hey there, new to the area. I found some spots on yelp like Tarasco's, Bad Albert, etc, but wondering if people know of other hidden gems in these neighborhoods that aren't promoted well?
