hi, going to Washington for our first time! relaxing nature trip, with our 3 month baby. looking for suggestions on what area we should head towards (October 21-24) looking for short hikes with great views, cute little coffee shops and food (suggestions?) my goal was to see peak foliage but looking at photos of people posting their hikes, it seems like it’ll be over or at the very end :( I’ve read many areas around mt Rainer will be closed due to weather conditions around this time. But will essentially have to keep the visit to one area and make it the most Open to suggestions, thoughts, if you’ve done something similar around this time, Thank you!! 🩵

Hello, Im going to seattle this weekend and am seeing if anyone knows a photographer (or is one) that would be able to take some pictures at Parsons Gardens/Kerry Park on Saturday around 3pm. I know this is late notice so understandable if it isnt possible. Any help is appreciated, thanks! Also if you know of a cooler/better spot to propose let me know!

hello!!! i’m probably going to be moving to Tacoma in the near future, and i’m in search of a job i’m 21f and don’t have any education tbh high school :( i was hoping that posting here could help. i have a job current that im leaving (not in tacoma, don’t want to get into). i have customer service experience as well as experience with animals, trying to break out of the pet industry at this time. i know that there are a lot of jobs that wont get posted directly to sites like indeed/other job search engines, and that it’s better to apply in person or directly on the company website. i’m hoping anyone could give me some helpful leads!! i’d also love to hear about any internships or programs i could do to move up. anything would be helpful. if your company is hiring or you know a place, i’d be soo thankful to hear about it. thank you!!!

Flagged as politics but not really :) I have attempted to reach out to my specific council member (Scott) both through the “contact” webform on-line as well as directly by email regarding a current project that may affect my neighborhood (specifically street parking). I don’t want to spam her, but it’s been a few weeks and I haven’t even got a “yep, I see it and there’s nothing I can do” response. I guess I’m posting to level-set for myself - what is the time frame I should expect a response, should I even be expecting a response, and if I don’t get one, who/what is the next escalated level to reach out to - the mayor? Is there a super-secret way to contact City Council Members that I’m not aware of? Any insight is appreciated - I’d really like the opportunity to work with my elected official, rather than just assume the worst, especially in the current political environment. My issue isn’t life-ending or anything, it’s more so the lack of information that is causing frustration.

I was fully prepared for $200-250 per month to insure a 2,500 sq ft 1960s home but my agent came back with $318 as the best option. Am I out of touch? Are y’all paying this much??

Hi I’m a Washington local (23F). I’m moving to Seattle like in the next week (signed my lease). I have so much to buy since I’m moving out of my parents house for the first time and living alone. Didn’t move out for college either. To be honest I’m really scared and doubting my decision. Financially I can afford it but again looking at the money leaving my bank account is rough. I work in tech if that helps. I also don’t have a car (after moving in). All my friends also live outside the city. Any advice? I’m legit gonna be sleeping on just my mattress this first week 😭 how do I make friends here? Did I screw up financially? Edit: moving to cap hill

Good morning! I live in Shoreline & have a gym I normally go to. However, I am going to be picking up some work in First Hill this Friday & want to know if there are any gyms close by (or even in Cap Hill) that have day passes I could purchase to work out before I go to work? Thanks in advance!

This should make your blood boil. We are in a legitimate cost of living crisis right now. Fuel increases are just getting started, the dollar is in the crapper, we’re paying more and getting less. Property taxes jumped over 50% for many this last go-around. Rents are getting jacked - there’s no end in sight to any of this. And here we have Lakewood PD. Not just 1 car and officer. TWO. Sitting in their cars. Doing jack shit. This tree company could direct traffic itself…if it even needed to. It’s not rush hour, and there’s two lanes of clearance to drive past here. Make your voices heard at city hall.

In the June Court of Appeals ruling, a panel of three judges agreed that unlike allegations of child abuse, which the state has a duty to investigate, the law doesn't obligate the department to provide protective services or investigate alleged vulnerable adult abuse. [...] Washington has also been falling consistently short of its goal to close 75% of its vulnerable adult investigations within 90 days, instead closing only about 15% within 90 days, according to APS data from 2022 to 2025. Beth McDaniel, an elder-law attorney in Renton who serves on the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys board of directors, said that given the court's decision in Bell's case, people with concerns about elder abuse might be better off calling 911 than APS. ~ Nine reports about one man with dementia, every one closed out, and the state's answer in court was that it was never required to look into any of them.
