There is an old white gentleman with glasses who always stands on the corner of queene Anne in front of the Starbucks every single day. He holds a newspaper and he always has some bags by his feet. It always appears as if he’s waiting for someone or something. He’s not unkempt, so I don’t think he’s homeless. He never sits down, just stands there. Does anyone know his lore?

May possibly be moving up to Seattle next year and was wondering how plentiful/accessible hiking, white rafting, etc all are? I used to live in Portland and loved the proximity to Mt. Hood and the coast. Is there similar proximity to pretty areas like that in Seattle? I know there is Mt. Rainer, but I've never been there and am unsure of the trail systems for Washington.

Even if gas prices hit $8 a gallon for regular, we will still pay it, I mean the vast majority, Seattle, Western Washington, Portland, California, etc. It’s not like there will be some west coast civil unrest, gas stations won’t go out of business. I hear people complain about prices but regardless we will still pay and find a way to make it work financially.

Pleaseeeeee if your gonna ever open another location in Redmond do it on the other side of town closer to willows, or downtown or even maybe take over the spot where tullys coffee was across the street from the QFC. All the current ones are off the busiest streets on the opposite way to work that I have to go … and I refuse to go to Starbucks ….

I moved to Lakewood this May, and this November will be my first time voting in the precinct. I'm looking at a sample ballot and wondering if anyone with local knowledge has opinions on the common pleas seats, tax levy(s), and charter amendment(s) votes?

The Seattle we live in is not safe. A week ago Friday my eleven-year-old son Christian walked out of his special education classroom in the middle of the afternoon. Christian is severely disabled. He cannot speak, cannot advocate for himself, and has no ability to see the dangers in the world around him. He walked out the front door of the school and onto the streets of Capitol Hill with no shoes on, and no one in the school noticed. There was no alarm on the door. The district had said no to one in August, and none of its seventy-one million dollars in new state-of-the-art safety equipment had reached his school. The police had one car searching. I was told it was all the department could spare, due to a staffing shortage. The high-tech cameras the city had bought for that neighborhood were switched off by our mayor, or never installed. He was gone for an hour and fifteen minutes, walking some of the busiest streets in the city, past doorways full of men smoking fentanyl off foil in the middle of the day, where anything can happen on the sidewalks. A Metro bus driver found him, stopped his route, and sat him down where he could see him. On the glass beside the bus door was a yellow decal I had walked past a thousand times and never read. It says Safe Place. Whatever the sticker says, my son is not living in one. Until this city decides that he should be, none of us are. I wrote the whole story, and what it says about the choices this city has made. Please read it and share it https://michaelrhatch.substack.com/p/seattle-failed-to-protect-my-son?r=1tw1j&utm\_medium=ios

A group of buddies and I are particularly fond of awesome indie/world/electronic music and are looking for some good spots to hang with some exquisite music and a good sound system. Would be sweet if they have good beer selections as well but not absolutely necessary. Also, what’s the best record stores in the area? Cigar bars? We are open to any recommendations, traveling for a Bachelor Party!!!

Ninety-two percent of eligible union members voted in August, with 87.8% of the professional unit and 89.7% of the technical unit voting in favor of the strike authorization. [...] Boeing's new offer would raise the professional unit's average base salary from $152,000 to $208,000 and the technical unit's base salary from $119,000 to $163,000, according to a Boeing press release. Compared to the initial offer, this is an increase of $11,000 and $8,000, respectively. "The leverage you gave us allowed us to push the company to move on the priorities you had identified," the negotiation team said in a joint statement to members Sept. 11. ~ August's offer was called the biggest wage pool since 1983. Members voted it down 64 to 36, and the company found more money.
