Anyone else catch sight of any marine mammals this weekend? They are so majestic, at a distance of 11x zoom, not right in front of my kayak/SUP. Never thought I’d set out 20 minutes from my house on a Saturday to do some paddling by the Narrows bridge that in less than half an hour, I would be on the water communing with whales. We kept our distance, but at one point a few of them popped up on us and kept getting closer, maybe 10 feet or closer. I could hear the air burst through their blowhole clear as day. I was giddy and panicked. We didn’t know which direction to flee. Growing, up on the east coast in the communities with my identities, we do not have such ease of access to natural beauty. I just want to take a moment to praise Tacoma for giving me surprises and opportunities the little girl in me never could have dreamed she would do. Thank you, Tacoma!

A young fellow knocked on our door (South Hill area) a little bit ago. Said he was here to tell us that the pavers are coming and that during this calm before the storm, he was offering help with home improvements, construction, etc. He warned me that there was going to be chaos soon and we'd be trapped in our home by the pavers, streets and driveways blocked... pure chaos. All his words, not mine. No business card. No paperwork. Nothing but a jacket with a tiny logo that was unreadable and a story to scare the old folks. We live on a cul-de-sac. The street is fine. The pavers are coming. Everyone's gonna be trapped. Ok.

I'm looking to host a family friendly pinewood derby racing event in the fall. Are there any local suppliers that provide materials; woodblocks, wheels, ramps, etc to purchase from? Trying to avoid buying everything on Amazon

Moving to Washington from Maryland for a job at Microsoft in Redmond. 26YO female, single no kids no pets. Would like to live in a safe area but also would like access to social events since I don’t know anyone in the area. But also don’t want a 90 min commute to work either. Will have to work 4 days in the office per week. Anyone live in Bellevue? Kirkland? Redmond? I don’t wanna be depressed lol so considering Seattle downtown but not sure how long the commute would be.
