It's corn season and I LOVE corn. I also love restaurants that make a good dish with corn. When I try to search for corn in Seattle online I just get hits for grocery stores and corn dogs which are great but not what I'm looking for right now. Please help a girl with a corn craving out and tell me any/all places I can go to eat some yummy corm menu items of any form. Things I have had before and still dream about: the corn soup at familyfriend corn pasta at cafe lolo literally any pizza place that has corn as a topping a corn ice cream I had recently in california a corn cake also in california a corn latte in Chicago which might be the best drink I've ever had in my life

I live in Capitol Hill right now and while the location is great I'm finding I don't like how constricted the area feels. I really just miss being able to drive to a grocery store with a parking lot and not a garage. It is also really expensive here so it would be a bonus if the area had cheaper rent. Right now I'm considering Renton as a real possibility from what I've seen driving around it.
Today I saw a parks employee using a Toro backpack electric leaf blower, and not only was I able to easily get his attention, we then had a great chat about the benefits of it. He loves not having to fuel it with gas and oil and the hassle! Said it was still plenty powerful to do whatever he needs to blow for 4 hours or so. Right now just comparing thw operating costs of a gas blower and gas prices in Seattle, a new $1500 battery blower will pay back in 4 months like a commercial operator such as Seattle Parks Dept. Bring on the battery blowers everywhere, and get these community and people destroying gasoline hell machines out of our neighborhoods!
More than an hour late for work today because I made the mistake of trusting sound transit... Waited for 30 minutes for bus 75 at Northgate Station and it didn't show up, checked sound transit for any service alerts and there wasn't any so I figured I'd just wait for the next one, and that one also says delayed 30 mins so I'm guessing route 75 is just canceled today and they forgot to put a service alert. I had to get back on the train a stop so I can take the 77 as it's the only other bus route that gets me where im going. If they'd put a service alert on their website I could have started rerouting 30 mins ago... Just a heads up for y'all
Anyone have AMC A-List and up for going to the occasional weekday evening movie? Maybe grab a drink after and talk about it? Any age, any gender, any number of people. Whatever works. Send me a DM if interested.
Preferably a business in North Seattle but i can travel, I know tailoring is a dying art so there aren't many shops. I have a very old piece of clothing that got a tear into I that I don't want to let go and was wondering if anyone knew a good place I could get it relatively fixed? I am trying my best not to just chuck things in the landfill.
Hi, I'm looking for something rather specific -- a rainbow plush, as in rainbow colors but also shape, in a specific size, on the smaller side. It could be sewn, knitted, or crocheted, but local. Can anyone recommend any makers -- and if they are at a market somewhere (Fremont, a farmers' market, a craft fair) that would be super helpful. Thanks!
I understand we are all trying to get somewhere, but I really wish drivers would pay closer attention to vehicle volume and changing traffic lights and stop blocking intersections. Southbound on 24th in the mornings is especially bad. I also know everyone makes mistakes (me included), but considering the amount of traffic in the mornings, please wait until you know you can clear the intersection (including crosswalks) before you continue on. Hint: There's even a countdown for the crosswalk you can use as a cheat sheet. Thanks for your consideration!
Had wasps nesting somewhere near my roof for two summers in a row. I tried those spray cans from a distance both times, but the nest kept popping up a few feet away. Eventually I gave up and called AMPM Exterminators since they cover the Eastside. I honestly thought I'd probably end up dealing with the same thing again. They found where the actual nest was instead of just treating the spot where I was seeing the wasps. One visit, and I haven't seen them come back so far. Should've probably just called someone the first summer instead of standing there with a can of Raid and a death wish. Anyone else dealt with wasps coming back every summer?
I believe Macklemore or any artist has every right to use their platform to take political stances. Good for them to try to do some good with their fame. But Ben Haggerty as an artist is pure schtick and always has been. He used whatever current progressive issue he can to promote his career. In the early 2000’s-2010’s the guy was just a low on the ticket white rapper trying to sound like the far more talented and more intelligent Blue Scholars. He found that latching in to them locally and performing in costumes (even capes) struck a chord. But until he developed ways to latch on to Seattle’s progressive politics he didn’t see much success. Then the music community (without Ben) stood up for same sex marriage in Washington. Late in the movement Ben jumped in and wrote a song about the issue and out of nowhere he got on talk shows and Grammys (who loved a safe white rapper trying to be progressive). Then Ben dressed up in costume attacking rich folks, during another popular Seattle movement called Occupy Seattle encouraging people to pull out of corporate banks - and so Ben dressed up as a caricature of a Jewish Banker (the epitome of the evil rich guys) - oops. His defense was that it was just a random costume. But everyone knew it was anti-Jew. Oy vey! To escape from that bad press he joined a rally, (for seemingly the first time?) protesting a police shooting and video’d himself jumping onto I5 for some publicity. It worked well. Ben hasn’t stuck with supporting these causes but they worked to promote his career. Never did he associate during these times with the pro Palestinian movement (that is many decades old). But now that the movement has gained a lot of traction, and Macklemore’s recent album sales have tanked, here comes Ben (after the release of his very low selling album “Ben” on his Bendo label) using his friend’s massive tour to try to make himself relevant again. He then blames a Jewish man (and a very unlikable one) for silencing him when it fact it was almost every promoter on the tour (and not Ed Sheeran himself). Before commenting it would be great if you read Pink’s statement. I myself think Netanyahu and the IDF have done a lot of evil in Palestine. And the Palestinian government (Hamas - a serious terrorist organization) likewise has done a lot of evil in Palestine and Israel. I’m not here to debate that. But I’ve grown tired of watching musicians like Macklemore exploit serious and complicated issues to get attention for their careers.
