What are some good local jewelry stores that sell solid gold pieces? I’m looking for a fun birthday gift for a friend, but don’t want to get gold filled/plated which seems to be the majority of what I can find in smaller stores. Any recs appreciated!

Hi everyone! Looking for recommendations for hands-on STEM classes, workshops, or local centers for a child turning 7.We want to avoid general robotics/Lego programming and instead focus on: Tinkering & physical engineering: Building, tactile invention, and understanding how hardware works. Questions: Are there specific local academies, maker spaces, or enrichment programs that offer dedicated electricity/electronics modules tailored for early elementary kids (ages 6–8)? TIA
I am looking for some where or someone I can work with on a small uv printing project. It's only 7 items I need a logo and a name printer on. Please let me know if you have one and would be willing to let me buy time
A coworker in Seattle got three bids for a primary bath remodel, 27k, 34k, and 45k. Same scope on paper. Wildly different numbers The cheapest excluded waterproofing behind the shower tile and used a 1500 dollar vanity allowance. The most expensive included full demo disposal, a schluter waterproofing system, and a five year warranty on all labor. The middle bid was somewhere in between and ended up being the winner The bottom line number on a bathroom bid is useless without understanding what is included. "Bathroom remodel 27k" and "bathroom remodel 45k" can both be accurate quotes for the same room if one includes proper waterproofing, realistic allowances, disposal, and warranty coverage while the other doesnt Always compare the line items not the totals
Going to start work at the Redmond office sometime next year and wondering if I should live in Redmond, Bellevue or Seattle? I was at Msft last summer and honestly the Seattle homelessness issue is getting a bit crazy now especially in the Capitol Hill area and am not sure if I want to live near there despite the good night life and more things to do. Bellevue was really nice near the downtown area but not sure if that’s a good place overall and Redmond honestly did get a bit boring after a while. Would appreciate the help.
Anyone know of an indoor pool you can rent for dogs? My dog recently discovered the fun of swimming but it's gotten too chilly for him. I'm hoping there's an indoor pool that we could rent out for just us (no other dogs since he's reactive). (I checked SniffSpot and there are only outdoor options)
Not sure if ticket posts are allowed here, but is anyone looking for tickets to either Kacey Musgraves Seattle dates? I bought two tickets each for both nights of the tour (10/26-27), but the person that was supposed to go with me can't make it anymore. Night One: Section 11 Row D, selling for $150 (listed around $176 on Ticketmaster) Night Two: GA pit, selling for $170 (listed around $189 on Ticketmaster). I'd prefer to use PayPal G&S/Venmo Payment Protection, then I'll transfer you the ticket(s) on Ticketmaster after payment. Open to reasonable offers. I’m just trying to recoup some of the loss since Ticketmaster resale isn’t enabled for this event. Thanks for reading!
Good day everyone! The mod team has noticed a drastic uptick in insult bot behavior in the sub. I understand reading can be difficult, but of our few rules in place the one that sees the most action is the no personal insults aka Rule 2. We've been exceedingly lenient with reminders and a dash of warnings. However, the issue persists and pops up in site wide posts that draw in non regular users. Since this is kind of harshing the vibe we're temporarily pausing reminders and warnings and going into straight 7 day bans. What does personal insult mean? Any sort of insult directed at the user themselves in response to a comment. What isn't a personal insult? Insulting public figures, people not directly related to the conversation thread, etc. For instance, you can say dems/republicans/breatharianism are idiots. If you're talking to a dem/republican/breatharianism you cannot call them an idiot. Debate the position or policy, do not disparage the user.
Does anyone know anything about this little park along the river? There is a sign there showing redevelopment plans that include an art walk, an artist’s space and space for community events, but it looks like that was all planned back around 2010. It looks like it would be a neat set of improvements— anybody know if it is still in the works?
I’ve worked with survivors of child abuse for over a decade. I can attest that confidentiality, privacy and having safe adults to turn to are crucial for abuse disclosures. For many children experiencing abuse or harm at home, a trusted adult at school may be the only person who recognizes that something is wrong and can help connect them with support. Initiative 001 (IL26-001) ), on your November ballot, would remove commonsense record protections for victims of child abuse. The changes it makes would allow abusers who have been accused of, or even charged with raping, beating or otherwise harming their child to access their victims’ social work and counseling records, putting these vulnerable kids in more danger. It’s hard to see how anyone would want to remove safeguards designed to protect children. The backers of this initiative are playing politics in order to distract voters from the real issues families are facing, like rising costs. It’s important for voters to get the facts, not just the campaign narrative that I-001 backers are pushing. I-001 would put children at greater risk by discouraging them from seeking help at school. While most parents are loving, sadly child abuse is more widespread than most realize — there are more than 100,000 reports of abuse each year in Washington. Children are often afraid to report abuse, or don’t know what is happening to them is abuse. Under I-001 even fewer students facing abuse, including child sexual abuse, would seek help from trusted adults at school. We should not force schools to hand over sensitive information about kids to their abusers, but that’s what it does. I-001 is so poorly written that it actually removes parents’ rights. As The Seattle Times editorial board pointed out in its opposition to this initiative, I-001 repeals Washington’s parents’ rights laws and replaces them with language taken nearly verbatim from Louisiana. The state attorney general’s analysis found that I-001 removes parents’ guarantee of “immediate notification” when their child is a crime victim and replaces it with a much weaker standard of notification. “If a student is the victim of a serious crime at school, parents should not have to wait to find out and any delay could cause further harm to the student,” says former Snohomish County Sheriff John Lovick, now a state senator. Delayed notification only adds to a child’s trauma and can prevent them from getting immediate help and support from loved ones and professionals. If a student is the victim of a serious crime at school, parents should not have to wait to find out. Forcing schools to release students’ counseling and other records puts already vulnerable children in danger of further abuse. While it is understandable that most parents want to know what is happening with their kids in order to help them, the fact is that some parents abuse or kick out their child if they find out they are LGBTQ+. In fact, 40% of LGBTQ+ homeless youth were forced out of their homes because of their identities, putting these youth at higher risk for sexual assault. I-001 does the opposite of keeping our children safe. That’s why organizations across the state, including the Washington State PTA , the League of Women Voters, Washington State Nurses Association, more than 100 doctors and medical care providers and Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates are opposing I-001. No matter what your political affiliation, you can protect children from increased risks of harm by voting no on this ill-conceived initiative that would remove vital protections for youth to disclose abuse and get help from trusted adults.
