I'm looking to move soon. I come from a very sunny and hot state, I love my state but I am really looking for a change, more so in a place with trees, grass and water. Im asking for your help and your thoughts and opinions on things that I find important to my day to day. I'm a go with the flow kind of person but I really want to be able to understand the small unique things about this place. I hope I am not asking too much.. -Bugs/creatures? What kind of bugs are the most annoying/creepy/parasitic/poisonous here? -Traffic? What times and what part of the city/freeways get jammed? What are social norms when driving (if you can compare it to the southwest)? -Weather? I'm only used to 2 seasons: hot and scorching. The idea of driving in the snow scares me so How often does it snow? How often does the weather affect your vehicle or getting to work? -Social norms? The people who have moved here from Tacoma that I have met have been really kind.. is that all of Tacoma or are ya'll like from the East Coast-grouchy? Is there an unspoken curfew or rule? -Yearly/monthly activities to look forward too? -Housing? I'm looking to rent.. what would you recommend are good areas to look into? Areas to stay away from? -Work? Are there slow vs busy seasons and if so, when are they? What is the most popular industry in this region? What is the easiest industry to get into just as a starter job while I can search for something different? Is it difficult finding jobs here? -Water? Can you drink out of the sink or does it need to be filtered? I dont know what else to ask so if you think of anything else please add! Thank you for your time and any input you can offer!

Hello, I'm planning on moving to Tacoma about 5 months from now and wanted to know if there are good studio~1bedroom apartments! North End area is preferred since it's closer to where I would be working but honestly anywhere is fine as long as the location is safe. I don't really have the opportunity to tour in person since I will be moving from the East Coast so I'm hoping to get as much insight! I'll list some of the things I'm looking for down below: My budget is: ~$1500 Parking space (garage preferred) Hardwood Floors In unit W/D Some of the apartments I've seen while searching that caught my eye were Vue 25, Tanara Villa, and Aspire 11. If anyone has any experiences with these apartments, insight would be very much appreciated as well! :D

I can choose between Redmond and San Francisco for my Microsoft new grad role, and I'm having a hard time deciding. I'm leaning toward Redmond because it's HQ and most of my team is there. Being near the people I'll work with seems like a good reason to choose it, but I'd like to understand the trade-offs before deciding. For anyone who's worked at Microsoft in either location, how would you compare them for a new grad? I'm especially interested in mentorship, early career growth, cost of living, and life outside work. If you chose one over the other, what made the difference for you?

I have a 1 year old daughter who loves being around other kids but sadly I’m not able to give her a lot of opportunities to meet them. I work full time in downtown and our nanny is with her during the day. She doesn’t drive so our options are limited. We live near HPIC. Are there any meetups/classes that our nanny can take our daughter to during weekdays? I can take her during weekends/evenings.

Had something shocking happen to me today. Strange man started following closely basically stamping my shoes from back and shouting at me for a block outside Paris baguette downtown Bellevue . I practically managed to not turn back and walk as fast as I can and not engage or trigger him for any reason. There were people walking on other side of the road but nobody turned or said anything. He followed me for a block so closely, screamed and walked away. This happened in evening when so many people are leaving after work. What should we do when these kind of things happen?

Does anyone else living near Swedish hear a howling dog nightly? It’s distressing because it is such a sad wailing sound - not a regular barking or whining. I just want to be sure the dog is okay, but can’t determine exactly where the sound is coming from.

When I walk around this area, there’s a sweet smell that’s there allllll the time. I don’t know if it’s coming from someone’s apartment, or it’s the park? Has anyone else noticed this smell? Does anyone know what it is? It’s a pleasant smell but I just am so confused by why it’s so strong, where it’s coming from, and why it’s always there. I’ve been wondering for a year now so I had to ask.🤣🤣🤣 ETA: It doesn’t smell like butter and flour, but someone suggested Hoffman’s so maybe I’m smelling sugar? Help. LOL
